Default Radeon 9000 heatsink mod

Before, with the old heatsink off

Here's some ATi pr0n for Chrome, but I already sent him this...

And the finished product, Loctite 384 with a small Pentium 3 Cooler Master heatsink with fins in the middle and a hi-output 50mm fan, has already seen 295 mhz up 45 from 250mhz. I'll machine some RAMsinks for it and epoxy those on too. It got 1212 in 3DMark2003 @ 285 but I'll see if I can crank it to 300 before the end of the night...

NOOOOOOO gfd all to hell!!!!!!! I killed it!!!!

I was trying to pop off the cooler because I benched it and the cooler wasnt even heating up but the core was as hot as my 9700 so the epoxy was insulating it, so I did the screwdriver mod with the cfredit card and ripped the core

At least it saw 306 mhz 1242 in 3DMark2001

R.I.P. You will be missed!!!!

we need to hold a proper burial for the poor card. Good cards always die badly....

You know I just came up with the coolest idea....

What if......

I somehow permanently attached a BGA from work that's approximately the same size as this 9000 core to the card and then attached the stock heatsink to it and sent it in for RMA.......
