Radeon 9800 + MSI 6712

I am thinking of upgrading my 3D card, but Im not sure of its compatibility with my MOBO. My current setup is; Athlon 2600+, MSI 6712 mobo, 512mb Ram + Radeon 9500 card. It plays most games fairly well, but I like to run everything on 1028 X 768 with most setting on or near max (otherwise I may as well play XBOX......) I have recently run into slow frame rates (single figures) on Deus Ex 2 and Far Cry so thinking its time to upgrade....

My problem is that I can only run my current card at 4X AGP otherwise it freezes up on nearly every game after a few mins. Will the 9800 pro card which i am considering purchasing work on 4X as well? Or do you think the 8X compatability probs are only with my current card? If I do need another mobo, what would you recommend for around Ã‚Â£60 -Ã‚Â£80?

Finally, If I upgrade my video card now, and then get 1MB Ram and a new processor (3.2ghz?) in time for christmas, will I be sorted for the big new wave? (Doom 3. Half-Life 2 etc?)
