Default startup vid overclock?

There are 3 ways to overclock my MSI 5900xt

1) Use Rivatuner. This has a "use these settings at startup" option.
2) Use the MSI Clock tab in my display properties. This has a "use these settings at startup" option.
3) Use the GeForce FX5900XT tab in the Advanced settings on my display properties. This has a "use these settings at startup" option.

I would prefer to use rivatuner, it lets me overclock more than the other two. The problem is that the ONLY way it'll start up with the clock speeds I give it is if I use #3, where i'm limited to a 418/773 overclock (i'm currently at 420/830 with rivatuner)

so do any of you rivatuner pimps know how to make windows start up with my rivatuner settings?

Hey Dakas,

Sorry I don't know how to set RivaTuner to lock in an OC at startup.

What gives with the low OC's? You still using the stock BIOS? Have any luck with the modified one I sent ya?

EDIT: Just looked in my copy of RivaTuner and it does offer a startup setting option.... under the low-level system tweaks. I'm running v2.0 RC 14.3 New Year Edition.

Sorry, I only use RivaTuner for clock speed monitoring.

I think the driver might get in the way trying to flash from Windows. You can flash from a bootable CD though. Just write the BIOS file and the flash app (I recommend using WFFlash from Leadtek) to a CD and make sure to make it bootable.

The downside is you won't be able to backup your stock bios, but I can send you a stock copy if you'd like. Probably be a good thing to put on the CD to begin with.

EDIT: fixed Quotation...... Also, If it'd be easier for you I could put together a bootable ISO image with a couple modded BIOSes and the stock one, along with the flashing apps. I'll test it out first myself to make sure it works.

Dakas, check your email. Let me know how it works for you. In the correct thread of course

EDIT

Dakas, I wasn't copletely accurate in telling you I didn't know anything about setting in RivaTuner resetting after a reboot despite selecting the option to startup with the card OC'd. I did read something from Unwinder (the programmer of RivaTuner) on Guru3D's forum. It is a known issue and he posted a workaround at some point.

I believe the workaround is as follows:

Open the System tweaks options, when you "enable driver-level hardware clocking" in the popup window which follows make sure that "Allow seperate 2D/3D clock frequency adjustment" is checked. Then press "detect now". Now, back in the "System tweaks" window select "performance (3D)" from the pulldown menu and set the GPU speed but NOT the RAM speed. Then select "standard (2D)" from the pulldown menu and set the RAM speed here. Now test 'em and save 'em.

If that doesn't do it, then I may have misread. You can search for the workaround here.

Let me know if it works.
