About the ATI drivers....

I builded a computer from the ground up for my brother

Abit NF7 rev. 2
2500+ @ 3200+ (Vcore 1.6v)
512MB

Now everything works good but he's got a old ATI 7000 PCI 32 mb DDR (he's just waiting to get more money to change it , i hope?)
So i went in to the Video card options to disable the AA (Anti Aliasing) to give him more performance in games because his card is to old.

In OpenGL no prbls i can disable the AA but i can't do it in Direct3D all i can doo is choose between performance (2x AA) or quality (4xAA) but can not disable it in D3D why?
Is there a way to doo this?

BTW : I told him that his got a " Kick @SS " machine & the only thing that is olding him back is the video card , i think he doesn''t beleve me too much...?
What do you all think?

Select Application Preference for 0xFSAA.

Yes this is what i'm talking about but no options where it said disable AA in D3D like you have in OpenGL

& if i choose application preference then if the games need it , it's going to enable the AA but i don't wont this a wont this option DISABLE like in OpenGL where you can click where it's said Disable AA

I like better the set-up from nvidia i can disable or enable everything i want & i got more options then the one from ATi driver

Just for that reason i'll stick with nvidia

All games default to 0xFSAA. Unless you specifically set FSAA on within the game, it will be off.
There are no further options for this setting.

What do you think he should buy for a video card from $100-$150.xx CND
I though of the 9600 (not the SE or the Pro$$) for $149.xx cnd

i would look for a 9800SE with the L shaped memory,then D/L the omega drivers and do the softmod ( you will see the option for it, it is very easy). you will have better performance per dollar then going with a 9600......

Well there is only one place that they are saling the 9800se here near Montreal & the price is $198.xx cnd i bit to much for him not over $150.xx

& i wont doo the mod because it wont be guarantee no more , Bioses or updates drivers that fine but Flashing a video card hummm!!! ... to risky.

That is the shizznit. I just ordered my 9800SE a few hours ago. It's sure as hell gonna beat my FX5200.

The 9600 Non-Pro is your best bet below $150 CND.

However the performance increase attained by softmodding a 9800SE is equal or above a 9800 Pro.
The warranty will not be affected. It's called a softmod because it's a driver trick, no flashing involved.
