| Custom What? | When gaming you need an in game messenger service, games take priority over other programs. If you do have a service open you can read what they type not sure about if you can hear them. I have had messenger services take me completely out of a game before. |

just find someone with an old, cheap monitor and hook it up, just to make sure you get the hang of it, and also, you will WANT to have software called UltraMON installed, makes configuring a multi-monitor setup ALOT easier and more functional...

![]() | i shall do that. i'll get the ultra mon as well. will there be a prob running 2 monitors of different size? or is it all about the resolution size? i tried with a 17 and an old 15 but had probs, i run 1280*1024 on the 17, the 15 was being a bitch, i don't think it supported the resolution though. was that the prob or is it the fact that it's smaller....the reason i'm asking is because i was thinking if i get a 21incher and run my 17 as the secondary.

| 5-Hoe-1 Jeans | I'm currently using a 21 and a 15. I don't really see what you're talking about though. Everything works fine for me. Occaisionally things get confused and windows get cut off but it's OK. And different resolutions are surprisingly not that bad. The 21's at 1600x1200 and the 15's at 1024x768. Everything works just dandy for me. I will note that next to nobody programs their software with multiple monitors in mind. That's why you see your problem in games, that's why AIM windows minimize your games despite AIM being in a completely different window. It sucks, but having two monitors is very convenient. I feel cramped otherwise |

| Apex Tech God | From what everyone's said, it should be possible, but here goes. I've decided to go witth dual heads for my planned rig, which is getting more and more pimp by the moment as i decide to throw more money into it, I'm gonna have a 17" WXGA display, as the primary head (right now it'll be a phillips, unless apple releases the new aluminum studio displays soon and have a 17" for under $600) running off a Radeon AIW 9800. I have a few old 15" crts laying around, so i thought i'd mod one of those all nice and shiny and run dual heads, have videos play on the other one etc. I'm looking at the only Radeon PCI card on Newegg, its a 9000 IIRC. Will this all be compatable? A 1280x768 running off DVI out of the AIW9800 and a 1024x768 running off the PCI 9000. Will i be able to drag the tv window over and watch tv from the AIW on the monitor running off the other card? I plan on running this off XP Pro, and i'm getting a DFI Ultra NFII LanParty Board. Help and suggestions on this are apreciated.

| Apex Tech Fanatic Supreme | That should all work except the DFI NF2 Lanpartys seem kinda sketchy. SOme people have great success with them and others have problems getting the thing to cold boot. My opinion would be to go with an Abit NF7 but its up to you on how much risk you want to take and how high you want to try and O/C. EDIT: I just checked out your wish list and the only things I would change would be the Mobo and processor. I would change to either a Barton 2500 and save $100 and then O/c it to at least a 3200 (easy O/C, just change the FSB to 200) or go with a mobile 2500 or 2600 and O/C the crap outta it. |

I'm getting the DFI because it has 4 SATA Ports with onboard RAID. The slick looking black board, uv connectors, front panel and free carying strap are bonuses though. Everyone's suggested i get a lower end proc, but i dont know if i want to overclock yet, i may down the road, but i'd rather be able to stick with a quiet cooler since its going in my dorm room. I need to update that list too, with the other video card and the other 2 hard drives i'm getting.
