No....only in price, unless you care to elaborate.

It's too bad there's no such thing as convection rating. And a metal's properties don't change with the weather....or fans in this case. Don't worry I'm not trying to repeat the same scenario as in that other thread, just a friendly discussion.

I'm not sure where your frustration comes from Anonymous. For passive cooling, aluminum works better than copper. For active cooling copper works better than aluminum. Copper absorbs, aluminum disperses.

Sorry, I'm going to have to disagree once again. Passive or active cooling is irrelevent when comparing the efficiency of different metals. Hopefully this will help lay to rest the last sentence:

http://www.coolingzone.com/Guest/New...y_cb_2001.html

Of particular interest is the very last paragraph detailing the fin efficiency calculator. Notice the only inherent property of metal included in the calculator is the heatsink's (or fin of a heatsink in this case's) thermal conductivity. That is by and large the only property that matters when considering the composition of a heatsink...of any type....regardless of what liquid or gas flows over it.

We where talking about this in science class today...unless im confused copper can suck in more heat but cant cold as much and also gets rid of it faster with active cooling, and aluminum can hold more heat and doesnt take it in as fast and gets rid of it slower...but I could be rong...I was playing mario on my GBC

Out of silver and with the most metal surface area: air contact possible.

Okay I dug out a book I had in the shed and I mixed up aluminums radiation for convection and as this point as I stare at these charts - yes if we're talking pure and billet formed copper to aluminum.... copper does win.

But just because I won't admit I'm wrong without sayin' something smart@$$, in the theoretical world of books and formulas you're dead wrong - diamond would make a silver heatsink look like crap.

............................No. If you have 2 heatsinks of identical design, one of aluminum, one of copper, the copper one will ALWAYS be superior to the aluminum in steady-state heat transfer, whether by active air, passive air , water, liquid nitrogen, or with any other liquid or gas you can possibly conceive.
