FX5200 PCI problems

I got me a PNY Verto FX5200 PCI, 128mb, and it's in my Dell Optiplex GX200 with Windows ME (soon upgrading to XP so

) Every time I boot it goes through the boot procedure and when it comes time to display the log-on screen the monitor turns off. The monitor is still getting a signal, and windows is fine because i typed in my password and it booted into Windows. played my log on sound, logged into MSN, etc. but the screen is still black. It's a dual VGA monitor card but dual monitors has been turned off.

The problem is fixed everytime I install it in a different PCI slot. Already burned two slots.

What drivers do you have?

The ones it came with, not sure wat revision but it don't matter, because i installed it in a different PCI slot again and it is still doing this.

I honestly didn't know you could still buy pci cards.....ok try F8 and going in VGA mode, then get rid of the current drivers then get the newest drivers from nvidia. I had the exact problem as this with my aunties computer with a tnt2. Just reseeded the card and defualted the bios and it worked.

Had a problem like that with an optiplex about a year ago. Do the F8 boot and if that system ahs onboard graphics make sure oyu disble the onboard graphics. Also if it also has onboard make sure there are no BIOS settings that assign it as the main card.

Well I installed the card in another PCI slot, it's ok for now, it runs 24/7 and restarts rarely, since it is my folding rig / fileserver / older gaming machine (Halflife, NFS 5, etc.) it restarts about once every few weeks.

It's fixed................for now..............

Tomorrow I'll play with it a little and see how things play out. DL'ed some new drivers and I'm going to bed so I'll play with it tomorrow, mucho thanx guys.

TYCOON Apex Tech God	I honestly didn't know you could still buy pci cards.....ok try F8 and going in VGA mode, then get rid of the current drivers then get the newest drivers from nvidia. I had the exact problem as this with my aunties computer with a tnt2. Just reseeded the card and defualted the bios and it worked.
