| I bought a 9800se and softmodded specifically because several people assured me that if I had any serious problems with it, I could easily revert back to its original BIOS. However, I posted a thread about a week ago about doing just that and no one has responded up to this point. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks. | ||

| I used the Omega drivers to flash the BIOS from the 9800se BIOS to 9800pro. Afterwards, I started getting an unrealistic amount of artifacts in just about everything, 3D apps, video, and even Office. I haven't been able to correct this problem so far, and I'm thinking I should flash back to the original BIOS, and then work from there. | ||

I agree. One thing that may be causing the problem is different RAM types. The BIOS you flashed to may be from a card with a different type, with totally different and incompatible timings. One thing that I have read and agree with is....flashing the BIOS is nearly useless, and usually causes more trouble than it's worth. Other than the instant popularity with your friends after seeing "9800 pro" instead of "9800 SE" in your Device Manager, typically, all you are doing (if it works) is forcing the card to run at the speeds of a faster card....done easier and with less issues with one of the many OCing utilities out there. Just for fun, I flashed my 9800 pro to an XT. It didn't boot, no matter what I tried, so yeah...I flashed it back to stock and there's been no issues. If you had a bad flash, get the BIOS for your card from the specific manufacturer. Good luck with getting it back and running. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I'm looking for the stock BIOS for a Sapphire 9800se with the "L" memory. I've looked on www.sapphiretech.com but can't find it there. They don't have BIOSes for vidcards listed there. I'm currently using the 9800pro BIOS provided by the Omega drivers, and yeah, it increased performance by about 55%, but there are artifacts EVERYWHERE! If anyone can tell me where I can get the original BIOS, I'd appreciate it. Thanks. | ||

| http://www.ocfaq.com/softmod/bios.php go here to look for that BIOS... to soft mod a 9800SE you dont need to reflash the BIOS of the card, just run the softmod. the omegas will ask you what you want to do. I have had good luck with 4 cards now. running anywhere from 17k to 20k on 3dmark 2001. with nothing more than a driver change. no voided warrenty's or anything like that. do you have a link of the card you bought? cause the only one that i know works the best is the sapphire 9800SE with the L memory and 128bit memory bus. with the soft mod it enables the other 4 piplines giving you a 256bit bus. DO NOT buy the 9800SE with the 256 bit bus, the soft mod will work but you will be left with a kinda fast 9500pro.....if you need anything else hit me up on MSN umtheguy(at)hotmail(dot)com | ||

| Chrome: I bought the card you linked to, Sapphire 9800se 128MB 128-bit OEM, from newegg here. I just installed the Omega drivers, and chose the option to upgrade the card from 9800se to 9800pro. Afterwards, I got an increase in framerate and benchmark scores of about 55%, but artifacts all over the place. | ||
