Don't base you're judgement on that POS benchmark, there are many other proving grounds showing the true significant advantages that the 9800Pro has over FX5200.
Fire up some games.

Yeah damn fine comparison there.....the best, most costly ATI product compared to the cheapest, low tech nVidia product. What did you expect to happen. Just because you were cheap when you bought the nVidia 5200 doesnt mean thats nVidia fault. Those cards arent even in the same league - Im not arguing that the 5200 is a good card, its pretty sad really but its a cheap card.

well, duh ati is better than nvidia in this comparison. you compare the worst nivida offering, other than the mx's with ati's crown jewel. if you compared ati and nvivida's top cards, you would see that its too close to say ati is the best.

decided against the 5950 or the 5900XT then? BAH shame on you. Try and equal out the cards next time buddy - 5200 and the 9800 are at complete oposite ends of the scale. (btw the 5950 and 5900XT beat the 9800 on benchmarks )

But also cost much more than the proportional gains provided...

just like Pentium chips vs AMD.

No nasty replies from me - I bought the 5900xt when it was first coming out. Damn fine card for $185 at the time - closest ATI offering that was same performance was $220. I went with what was cheaper and fit my needs - Im not nVidia loyal. Before that I had a 9600xt - wasnt too impressed with that card and it was MORE money then my 5900xt........that wont turn me against ATI though. Buy what works for you at the time and what you can afford - be it ATI or nVidia. They take turn on top anyways.........back and forth. No card is better than any other - just depends on what you need and are willing to pay for.......and what system its going in. There are good combinations and bad ones.

I have to agree that MaTtsPc is comparing a very "low grade" card to a "upper-end" card though............

Sure the 9800 Pro is a nice card, but how well does it stack up against the Nvidia NV40 Quadro

I htink he is just saying he is happy with the performance. When i went from a 5200 NU to a 9600 pro i was happy as a man can get. Now, let see how happy i am when i get my hands on one of them x800's... speaking of which, anyone want to buy a kidney?

At least he is trying all sorts of cards. I am sure if went with a Nvidia over the ATI i have, i would be very happy. MY next card is probably going to be a 6800. If i say i am happier with my 6800 than my 9600pro will that make me a fanboy? No, it will make me happy with the upgrade that i have made. Is it chaos because i switched brands? No. Just saying cut hte guy some slack, he upgraded and is happy. The dude is happy with the ATI product he got, good for him, no need to be mean.

::EDIT:: yeah, i understand the confusion of hte post title, just probably happy about the ATI. I know i said earlier i was gonna get an x800. spent alot of time reading reviews last night. starting to swing towards hte 6800. gonna probably wait for user reviews.

Not to be picky Gumby (well ok, maybe a little ), but his sig doesn't show an nVidia card........ rather an nVidia chipset.

why did you ultimately decide tobuy a new card when the x800 is just around the corner? i would assume the price drop is just around the corner as well. Speaking of whitch, how much is an x800 going to run me when it comes out? do I need to buy a saw for my arm?
