Default Safe operating temperature?

Well, I tried out that nifty Rivatuner thingy and well, I noticed that the temps certainly go up high real fast. I've got an FX5900 Ultra that runs about 50-51C while idling, and when overclocked to the current 475/900 I have it to, it'll jump to about 60C, though still runs fine. It varies by a small portion because there were times it wasn't too cool in the house, but it was still jumping a good 10C and I'm fairly sure that 60C is quite a high temp (but I didn't convert to F so I'm not entirely sure).

So I wonder, is it safe to run it up so hot? Or will it just automatically crash if it gets too hot? 'Fraid I don't want to fry this piece of hardware above all else, so anyone out there have cards running fine and stable at some high temp?

Ok, minor clarification that I just remembered, it runs idle at 300mhz core clock as opposed to the accelerated 3D clockspeed of 475 (or whatever I have it set to now). It causes an obvious jump in temp, but still high either way (probably worse when I'm actually running some graphics intensive game).
