| Mystical Schwinn Guru | I'm getting one for my Dell Optiplex GX200, P3 1 GHz, 256MB RDRAM and it has a PCI riser card. I know the 5200 is crap but I'm considering one since it's a P3 1 GHz, anything over a 5200 is overkill and won't really matter since it's a 1 GHz. Benn having problems with ATi cards in Halflife and D3D mode for some reason, what do you guys reccomend? Yes it plays games but I want it to play stuff more complicated than Halflife. Not Halflife 2. HL. Upgrading from a Voodoo 3 2000 PCI. |

Why not go MX440 and save a few bucks? it's not like the DX9 will be of any use anyways.. Yeah..I have not been overly impressed with ATI cards, yeah they bench great, but I prefer Nvidia's drivers, the ease of overclocking with Coolbits, and the fact they don't have a "pause" when you first boot up that I noticed when I got my 9600XT. Edit: Check out a thread I started on PCI cards HERE

| Mystical Schwinn Guru | I have considered an MX440, they are decent cards and have come a long way in development. Whatever I get will ne Nvidia, yes I know 'j-dogg why not get a Voodoo 4500 32MB PCI' The Voodoo 4500 runs very hot and my Voodoo 3 2000 is heating my room up |

| Apex Tech God | some of the old high end geforce 4 (4000's) are for sale - about £30(~$55) for a PCI 4000 with 128mb DDR. Its the biggest amount of memory ive seen on a PCI card, anyhting over that is as you say, overkill. Keep in mind the PCI bus shyares the bandwidth of all the devices, so ive you have a Gb network card and TV tuner in there aswell, your performance will be greatly reduced.

![]() | I would have gone with the PNY GeForce FX 5200 128mb dual VGA PCI. Only $90, and multi display too. I have 2 of them in my PC and have not had any complaints yet.
