| Apex Techie Lite | Hi, my computer has been acting up for some time now just hasn't been frequent enough to annoy me. But now it's becoming serious. I get little green and other colored dots on my monitor that move when i drag a window around ( so i know it's not a bunch of dead pixels). I can't play any game period, when ever i try to play a game i lock and either have to restart manually or alt f4 works sometimes. I got huge lag spike sometimes just from watching a video on the internet or opening up limewire. Before when i could play games i slowly got more and more artifacts as time passed. I have tried dozens of drivers for my video card but none solve the problem. Before you ask everything is running at stock Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. | |

| Your video card is on it's death bed. If you had mentioned this sooner I would of advised you to check your heatsink and replace the thermal paste. You can still try it but I fear you've waited to long. If your memory chips are cooled by the heatsink use a white thermal paste on them. Something simular to Arctic Silver Ceramique. Good Luck. | ||

| If it's still under warranty you need to RMA it. Don't take it apart and try new paste. The GPU is probably good, it's the memory modules that are dieing. You'll probably be better off buying a new one and selling the RMA replacement when it comes in. I say this because BFG probably doesn't have any in stock, the 7900 GTX is getting old in tech years. | ||

| There's no telling. I had to RMA a XFX 7950 GX2 about 1-1/2 years ago and they never did get any in to replace it. I had (2) of them in a Quad SLI setup. After (2) months they finally offered to upgrade both of my cards to 8800 GTX's but I had to pay $100 for each one of them. | ||

| The 9800 GTX is faster than a 8800GTS by a good bit. It's just slightly faster than a 8800 GTX though. But it is cheaper than the 8800 GTX. The 8800 GT is an excellant price/performance card, but you said $250 and that spells the BFG 9800 GTX I linked :-) | ||
