| Editor/Reviewer/LED Guru | I dont know anything about the FX5200 as I am still stuck using a Chaintec GF4 440se and a secondary PCI card (MX420 Asylum) for my second display... It all boils down to if the card has Dual Ram Dac's and is capable of putting out two seperate video signals.... And I believe yours does but I am not sure if it will support dual output.... As I am sure you may have already done you right click on your desktop and go to settings and you should (if it has the capabiity) have a second monitor that is greyed out... click on it and check the Enable monitor below the resolution selector... If it doesnt you may try plugging in another monitor and rebooting because that may activate it? *note my suggestion is sourced from personal experiance... My MX440 has S-Video output and unless there is a cable and TV/VCR plugged into it windows will not even see it.... I hope this helped more than confuse... Let me know if you might need any further help... |

Do you have the latest drivers installed? That might help. If so, un-install them, and re-install them. Thats all I can think of, do not use GeCrap, err GeForce cards..

| P-Hoe-lice | Pardon me for piggybacking, but I have a similar question, so why start a new thread on the same subject? Anywho.....I'd like to know how I might set up my desktop for a dual montior set-up using my Radeon 9800 NP. I'd like to be able to set it up with my main monitor in front of me (duh! ) and my secondary above it. I'd prefer to have one desktop on my main then another on the secondary.I've got the lastest driver's: Catalyst 3.10 and Hydravision 3.25.0006. The montiors are main: Viewsonic A90f+ 19" CRT and secondary: Viewsonic VE500 15" LCD. I'm sure you regs have seen OMFG's setup...if I have a setup one tenth as cool as that I'd be a happy man. Sorry for the late post...1st time I've seen this. If you're talking about onboard video, as in built into the mobo, it has to be disabled to use the AGP slot. So you couldn't use both at the same time as far as I know. If it's PCI, don't know what to tell you.

I would think it is similar to setting up mine, I have TV out on my MX420 You have to have it connected to the card, or it won't detect the second monitor and give you the extra Display option. Look at the Pic I attatched, you need to find the tab labled "nView display mode" Now choose "Clone" Enjoy

Am i right in assuming you just want to know how to potition the monitors? It's simple. Just go to the display tab, where you set the screen resolution and so forth. Drag the monitor icons to whatever position you want. That's it.

Did it work? Was that what you needed to do, find the right tab in the nView control panel?

Doh! I'm such a knucklehead. I guess I made things a little more complicated than I needed them to be. Thanks MDK, for pointing out what should have been obvious. Now, I will go bang my head on the wall for an hour.

![]() | OK, so my dual monitors till do not work. Ive updated my drivers and tried the basic stuff (ie trying differnt monitors, uninstalling then reinstalling drivers) and i still cant get it. my Geforce fx5200 does support dual monitors, but mine wont work. here are my settings when i right click the desktop and go to settings. http://www.imagedump.com/index.cgi?pick=get&tp=30371 if it doesnt work, let me know. Any help would once again be appreciated. Im not sure why it still does not work. thnx |

| Custom What? | OK for the fx5200 this should work for you. Right click on the desktop and select "Properties" In the Display Properties control panel click the "Settings" tab. On the bottom right corner of the window click "Advanced...". In the Advanced window click the GeForce tab. Click the "nView Display Modes" option. You must now choose what mode you would like to setup: Clone will mirror your primary display to your secondary display: This setting is good for use with a projector. Horizontal Span/Vertical Span: This will stretch your display across both displays horizontally or vertically depending on what option you select. Once you have selected the option you would like to use, click "Apply". Windows will now ask you if you would like to keep these new settings, if you do not click "Yes" within 10 seconds the displays will default back to single monitor and you must repeat the above steps. If you don't have nview your second moniter must not be hooked up properly. Or settings are wrong. I''m still searching for you though for more possibilities Edit: Yeah if the second moniter is not hooked you wont see Nview. Last edited by Lokie; 18-January-04 at 09:39 AM. |

![]() | once again thank you, but i cant do that. i do not have that option. the only thing that i can figure as to why this may not be working is, can the second vid card be a onboard or does it have to be another separate one? |

| Custom What? | Well the opption only comes up when 2 moniters are pluged in. Most cards have one digital and one anolog. The digital can use an adapter for anolog but not anolog to digital. I would plug the one moniter that works into each port to see if you have a bad port. If you do have good ports from your card. then switch moniters to make sure they work. Maybe then you might find out whats up. |
