| Oh man it's been awhile, that's for sure. Either way, I guess this doesn't count as troubleshooting, since I'm basically done troubleshooting. My Radeon 9800 Pro gave up the ghost. It seems to do fine in just day to day operations, but whenever I try and fire up anything 3d it dies. I gave it a good look and it seems the fan doesn't work. So, instead of going through the hassle of getting a new heatsink/fan and installing it, I figure it's probably easier to just get a new card. I know that the general rule is go google for it yourself, and trust me, I've tried to. The problem is that any reviews for vid cards are current top of the line PCIx models, and any AGP reviews are for old top of the line models that are no longer being made. So my question is, what would be a good video card to replace it? I don't do much 3d, basically Civilization IV is the most, though I recently purchased The Orange Box. I certainly won't be doing anything that's cutting edge or needs a lot of power. My other requirements are that it have two video out ports (at least one DVI). That shouldn't be hard, but some of these bargain cards don't even have that. In lieu of any individual recommendations or suggestions, is there anything from here that I should just steer clear of? And yes, anything has to be from Newegg. Budget is ~$100 Windows XPSP2 Athlon 2600+ Abit NF7-S v2.0 GeiL 1 GB PC 3500 Enermax 350W ATX-PSU 300 GB WD SATA1 80 GB Maxtor PATA Hauppage TV tuner card I also want to know if while I'm at I'll need to get a new PSU. I don't overclock. Thanks pimps! Last edited by jcarkeys; 04-March-08 at 05:42 PM. | ||

| Any of these will do you nicely for what you want: Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more! 3850 pwns all, but probably overkill. A Radeon 2600 would be your best bet IMO. This one is $116, cheapest decent card....the cheaper 2600s seem to all have DDR2. Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100229L Radeon HD 2600XT 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X HDCP Ready Video Card - Retail As for a PSU.... Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-450VX ATX12V V2.2 450W Power Supply 90 - 264 V UL, CUL, CE, CB, FCC Class B, TUV, CCC, C-tick - Retail Very good solid model. Should be enough to power whatever you get. | ||

| Ok, so I was looking at the Radeon 2600's. They're a bit more than I was thinking about paying / more than I think I need in terms of power. Would there be any issues with this card? I mean, I don't need the highest performance at all, just if someone had recommendations that won't break or have issues. EDIT: And thanks for the quick response. | ||
