Why no 3DMark? New video card...

Well, I got my ATI 3850 card in. It will not run any 3DMark stuff. I had 06 installed, ran it last night in preperation for testing this card, but now it just hangs at 'checking specs'. I have downloaded it again, tried the '03 '05 and '06, and nothing. Just hangs at the first screen.

Now said video card plays Crisys very well. Dang shadows mess with my mind. And Everest is reporting it as a 1024MB card, should be 512, and no temps for this card in Everest? Confusing to me. It games but will not benchmark...

I had this exact same problem with my 3870. Basically it's an error caused when 3DMark tries to check the core and memory speed of the graphics card. The easiest fix is to navigate to %WINDIR%\system32\Futuremark\MSC, and rename the file 'Direcpll.dll' something else.

Also, Rivatuner is an excellent tool for maintaining your graphics card. I use it for overclocking, fan control and temperature readouts. The 38xx-series also show GPU usage which is interesting to see.

Woah that worked for me too, never been able to run '06 on my 8800GTs
