Not exactly sure how much your will to spend on a PCI video card since there pretty much starting to phaze out, but you can still buy them Newegg has some that are pretty good you could try. Even Walmart or bestbuy have some that our decent pci video cards you could check out, i would at least give the 9250 series cards a try, i have one of these cards i use to use and it played my COD2 with no problems.

| Yeah if this thing had an AGP slot it would be completely different, its the stock mobo with delloptiplex. Ill look into it further.... He would also like toplay like medal of honor and battle field two but this is probably impossible on a pci card. Do you think this: Newegg.com - DIAMOND X1550PRO256PSB Radeon X1550 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Video Card - Retail Would Run games like BattleField 2, like at low settings or something...? | ||

| I dont know for sure but I would guess that might have a hard time with BF2. I used to use a FX 5700 Ultra AGP that had a tough enough time with it. I know I wouldnt pay 95 bucks for a PCI card now. Seems like such a rip off when you can get something 5 times better in a AGP or PCI-E flavor for only 20-30 dollars more. Maybe your friend should consider the new mobo route, he would have to spend more but I think it would be a better long term decision. and for BF2 I think he would def want atleast 1 GB of ram. If we knew what socket his processor was, we may be able to come up with a good price combo. | ||

| Sempr0n? |
Yeah, that's the problem with upgrading Dells. Everything tends to be proprietary. I remember running BF2 on a GeForce FX5200 when I was but a wee n00b - no idea of the settings but probably 800x600, low detail. It was fine.

| the problem with pci video cards is not the chipset, but the speed off the pci bus. i hate to say this but a x1550 vs x550 you will get little to no gain on game performance. just stick with a direct x9 card, with 128mb or higher, 9500 series (ati) or nvidia 5500 series and you should be able to play the games. Just dont expect to play the games on high graphics settings... | ||
