Default 9800pro at 4x

I just installed my new mobo(asus p4c800-e) and installed cat3.9s and it has my card running at 4x with the option of 8x but when i put it at 8x and reboot it reverts back to 4x. Any ideas whats wrong?

Does the board even support AGP 3.0? (8x)

And theres barely any difference in performance between 4x and 8x.

Yup, its asus' flagship board! says it righ the box. The wierd thing is when i put it at 8x in windows and then restart, as soon as it gets in windows it reverts back. I even tried reformat and reinstall of windows. Its either the card thats broken, or software/bios or the motherboard thats not working.

Yeah, I'm betting that the software (inside windows) can't write to the BIOS, so you'll have to look in there. Check in the manual or go to the asus forum and ask around there
