| Apex Master Tech Apprentice | I have a Radeon 256 DDR 9600, and I would like some advice on OCing it. To me, the clock speeds seem wayy too low. 324 Engine and 195 Memory. I have a Giant 2 Thermaltake heatpipe on it. Should I overclock it, and how much do you think would be a good level of ocerclocking it? Thanks. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | DDR 9600? Overclock.....yes. How much....as far as it'll go. (Turn it up 5 MHz at a time and test with 3DMark2003 to check for any artifacts. The RAM at 10MHz intervals.)

| Mastah Overclocker | Did you check out THIS thread? I believe the 256MB version doesn't do quite as well as the 128 MB Pro version in the overclocking Dept, I'd like to see how much you get from this one though Memory is DDR 195x2=390MHZ... Wich seems a little low. It depends on the Mem Chip on the card as to how far you can push it, check to see what name and numbers are on the chips. Overclocking anything will usually reduce lifespan, but I have never lost anything from it if done in moderation. Test for max performance, back it down a notch or 2 for reliability and longevity. The difference in day to day use will be negligable.

| Apex Tech God | ok, if you want maximum radeon 9600 overclock, increase ur agp voltage a tad, and i think you may be able to get your core to 400 from 300 with some good cooling. The radeon 9600 non pro chip is ther same as th pro just lower clocks. So up the cooling and you may be able to hit 400 and maybe higher. On the memory side, the 9600 non pro already comes with slower rated memory and the 256 version worsens that by giving even cheaper memory. You will get more out of the core then the memory but you should be able to get alot from that card.
