Games crash while playing.

I have an ATI AWI 9800. I installed COD and BF 1942 and Enemey Territory. The weird thing is while I am playing a game (any game) the game will suddenly close and return to the windows desktop. I have all the latest drivers for my mobo chipset, and vid card. I also have the latest BIOs. I called Newegg and they gave me a RMA number. So at this point I decided to put in my old G3 TI200. I was playing CoD and I noticed the graphics weren't as good as before. While playing CoD for 30 minutes the game closed and returned to the desktop justl like my ATI 9800 did.

Any ideas on what could be the malfunctioning culprit?

I had this same problem when I upgraded my backup rig, games crashing to desktop for no apparent reason after 10 min or so. (Athlon 2500+ Shuttle Nforce 2 Geforce4 MX, SB 16 PCI) I tried reformatting and swapping parts but it turned out that WindowsXP didnt like my old old soundcard drivers. I removed the SB 16 and switched to the onboard audio and everything worked fine.

I'm already using the onboard sound. So I don't think that can be a problem for me.

I'm wondering if my Kingston PC2700 value memory can't handle the demand. Because I upgraded the CPU to a 3000+ and Vid card at the same time.
