Default directx problem

i installed a game, and when i try to load itup it says


D3DERR_INVALIDCALL
CODE 2156 FACILITY 2166 SEVERITY 1


i not sure what to do.....its an directx error i know that....it says it is....haha...my friend installed the game and it worked fine.... ..i have the latest directx...its 9 i think.....i have the newest video card drivers too.....its an nvidia tnt 2.....ya its old i know...haha..and the card will work with the game....also.....everything is enabled in the directx settings.......but what do you do when your direct x is working......... plzz any help would be awsomeee

Go to your "run" prompt and type "dxdiag".

This will test all your directX features for you.

ya in my first post i said i went there.. ...i tested the directdraw or whatever and the direct 3d...both tested fine..and directdraw acceleration,direct3d acceleration, and agp texture acceleration are all enabled.....

Look for new drivers, or mabey for you(tnt2), role back to older ones

hey kc, i have the exact same tnt2 32mb video card with nvida driver 52.16 for winxp installed. can you tell me what driver you used to get this game to work because i am getting the exact same error and have gone through dxdiag steps checking "stuff". i have reverted to dx8.1 but havent tested the game yet. if anyone else knows what i could try lemme know! Thanks, -Rob

hey i just got the newest drivers for nvidia....u know whats weird...is that ppl told me this game doesnt support this card...but it worked for me....

do you know what version those drivers u got from nvidia were? i keep getting this error, i have a ak32aMB with the 32MB TNT2 card, 512MB PC133 SDRAM, Athalon XP 1700-i just downloaded an nvidia driver from windowsupdate website, im going to reboot and try it. if i cant get it to work, i may test the game on a 64mb or 128mb video card, but i would like to use this one if possible. thanks for all/any help!

its called goto www.nvidia.com and download the detonators Get those not the ones from microsfot. Microsofts suck the biog one

the one nvidia website is pointing me to is called forceware version 52.16 from october 03. ? anyone got a copy of detonator version?

alright, i did install version 45.23 which i think were called detonator back in august. same dumb error. i will try a different video card, a couple of ati's and the geforce 4 if it's compatable with my 4xagp. im still open to suggestions regarding this tnt2 fi anyone else knows. i have onboard sound btw, dont know if that could be problem...thanks! -r

i tried my tnt 2 and its not working well all of a sudden...i got that same error...so i tried a geoforce 2, 64mb video card...and the game works fine .. ...so amybe its jus the TnT 2 video card....
