| Hi everyone...So, I bought an ATI Radeon X850XT PE (AGP) 256MB off of someone online (not here)...it turns out it was not working, getting crazy artifacts while windows starts and even after it's all loaded...thought it might be the cooler so I took it off and checked it and put new grease and put it back on...still the same problem...after googling around a bit i notice from all the images i found of my card, a capacitor (the round all metal ones) that sits in the top left hand corner is not there on mine...it looks as if it's been snapped off...can a capacitor like this be replaced?...i paid $70 for the card and before i trash it i thought i'd give it a shot by posting for some help here...the break on the capacitor looks clean as if it snapped off and not burnt out or anything...am i dreaming for a fix here?...any thoughts?...thanks!!! | ||

| If you can find out exactly what kind of capacitor it is, and if you have the right tools, I'm sure you could fix it. But what about returning the card? Was it an eBay auction? Did it say it was defective? | ||

| I can't return the card...I bought it off a guy from craigslist here in new york city...I have bought things in the past from people with no problems...I guess I've been had...as far as the right capacitor, after hours of googling I find that those type of capacitors are made by Sanyo but I just haven't found my exact one that I need...still looking though...thanks for the reply...

| I will try to post some pictures later tonight...maybe someone here can help me get it soldered if I get the right capacitor...I know it's a stretch with even assuming I can buy the 1 capacitor I need...but it's such a good card and it seems the effort should be made in my part to resurrect a card that initially cost over $400...my fingers are crossed that someone here is an electrical wiz...thanks everyone...on a brighter note...I just got the Antec P182 case and she is a beauty!!!

| In all likely hood its the same as the surrounding capacitors of the same size.... I speak from experiance having brought back many dead motherboards, Video cards ect... If possibly I would wait for a reply from a owner.. but if you do not get said reply I would consider it... | ||

| What do the numbers on the capacitor say? The numbers are usually Size, Value, and Voltage of the capacitor. Most likely, because it is near 2 inductors it is a filtering capacitor, which has to have a special quality to it. They are probably all in parallel with each other, so as long as you get a better performing capacitor than whats needed, you'll be OK. | ||

| Thanks everyone for your help...seems I bit off more than I can chew...this is turning out to be bigger than I can handle...found another missing capacitor right nest to the one already missing...Gzim...yup, that's the specs...Even if I could find the capacitor, I don't think I can handle soldering it back on...So...if anyone wants to give it a shot...I'm willing to part with it...You pay for shipping and I can send it out for someone that's a bit more daring than I am...Or. I can pay someone to fix it for me?...Open to all suggestions...even the ones that tell me to just trash it...Thanks again everyone...

| By the looks of it, you need a 1500uF, 2.5V Capacitor Surface Mount Style. They can be had for a couple cents from most distributors. It looks like these capacitors filter the output for Vgpu (voltage to the GPU) which is probably 1.25 V (if they follow the rules for capacitors anyway) | ||
