| Did you take it out and put the new one in? It could be a "freak of nature" card and fryed your computer when you turned it one, it happend to my friend he put some new RAM in his pc and it stoped working, turns out his mobo was fryed. My conclusion: that he shocked it or pressed to hard on the motherboard and put one those "invisible cracks" in it. btw radeon ownz j00 | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Theres really no point in starting a war because both ATI and nVidia have their own strong points. They say RADEON will perform better with HL2 and GeForce better for DOOM III. As for the original question; Have you tried disabling on-board video in your BIOS? | well i connected everything exaclty how its supposed to be. i know the card works cause i tested it on my friends dell mobo. im pretty sure its bios but the comp (ie. the mobo and cpu and everything) this ill work. i am currently using a geforce4 mx440 se video card. my mobo supports 4X agp as does the card. i know nothing is conn. bad, just the bios , but to add more sh@t to my problem when i tryed to flash the bios with a floppy start, the bios neglected (denied) the floppy, im really pissed at this radeon crap. i just wanna if its worth keepin or buying a new mobo and all(doing that either way) oh and nvidia and ati both own, also compared to a geforce FX5800 ULTRA which is better? the radeon 9800 non-pro softmodded or the fx5800? thanks and sorry for big post | ||

| the 9800 np and SE w/ 256bit memory will kill that 5800, if you mean 5900 its most likely more reliable, doom will run on nvidia "better" cause ATI leaked the alpha (even though the game was origionaly optimised for ATI) half life will run on ATI "better", cause ATI gave valve the most money none of it means ****- and the performance differences will be small, if any | ||
