Default Best way to get new drivers for laptop GO 6100

hey everyone, I've recently purchased a new laptop for seminary and was trying to figure out how to update the drivers for the lowly go 6100 video card from nvidia that is on it. However, I can't seem to find a viable way to do it. Since I've never messed with a laptop before...I thinking that some of my fellow friends at PC Apex may have a solution.

The currently installed drivers are the 98.15's but according to everything, it seems those are vastly out of date and HP (who the laptop is made by, well...really compaq) doesn't have any other drivers available newer than those... That was one long drawn out sentence just to say - HP isn't any help for new drivers....lol

I just don't know the ins and outs of mobile video cards and was just looking for some helpful pointers

Thanks guys!

Use the TweaksRUs mobile drivers at www.tweaksrus.com

Site seems to be down at the moment but they do some really good modded .INFs and repackages that should run on any laptop.

Other than that, LaptopVideo2Go is also pretty good:

LaptopVideo2Go ~ Download NVIDIA Drivers & Setup Installation Files (INF)

You can also try Nvidia's website, and if the laptops running Vista Windows Update.

Don't know if that will work; on my Dell you had to get Dell-specific drivers or the installation would claim your had incompatible hardware.

It worked fine for me with my HP the one time I got them from nVidia's website. Otherwise I just let Windows Update handle.

Must be just Dell then. They're pretty tight on who can do what with their graphics cards; they lock the BIOS' so coolbits/nTune don't work

I was able to install the newest drivers on my laptop. Everything seems to be working fine. Don't know if they actually helped any, the GO6100 is a pretty sub par graphics card to begin with...

I'm not sure if he can. When I was running on a desktop on integrated graphics I wasn't able to. I didn't try to hard though.

Either way it can't hurt to try.

Likely Rivatuner or ATi Tool will work. That's what I use for the 7900GS in my Dell i9400, although I had to flash a modded bios to unlock the clocks.
