| Direct Cool Hoe | Now that the price of the 9800XT is at $500.00 the owners of a 9800NP/PRO have the luxury of a soft-mod... Turn the excellent 9800NP/PRO R-350 core speed into the 9800XT's R-360 core speed... There is also a voltage mod for the memory and core. looks simple enough..I'll let ya know how it goes!... Get the info while it's hot right here!!! | |

| That wasn't really my question. I am seriously considering flashing my 9800PRO to a 9800XT and was wondering if the Overdrive overclocking utility in the drivers would work correctly with a softmodded 9800PRO, because I don't think the 9800PRO has a heat sensor (thermal dioide). The purpose of overdrive is to moniter the GPU temperature and find an optimal overclocked setting, or so i gather. | ||

| Uh no offense G Money but i'm not sure you know what you're talking about. Quote " guess my point is that you can easily overclock your ATI 9800PRO card to 1GHz " All you would end up with (even it even allows settings that high) Is a crisped card and a voided warranty. | I know you would wind up with a fried card, but I'm just saying if you are just trying to get your speeds up...this is the easiest way. And the quote should include "if you want" portion to your quote of me to add clarity to my previous post. P.S. There are nude pics of Salma Hayek hidden in this picture, can you find them all??? ![]() Last edited by G Money; 01-November-03 at 02:33 AM.. | ||

Nah G...it's hard to explain OC'n without them seein' how the "sliders" work...and with the XT it thermally protected... OH BOY HUH...5% O/C if the temps are down..pfft. Gimme the VR's and let me go!! ![]()

Not true. That is only true for the cards with the Samsung memory only. If you have one of the cards with memory other than the Samsung you are screwed. I know because I am one of those unlucky enough to be saddled with the Infineon memory. Plus be advised the 9800SE's are made form the rejected cores that could not handle the stock 9800 Pro freq in all 8 pipelines. So they disable the pipelines that can't handle it and V'oila the 9800SE. ![]()

Have him check device manager to see what card he has. Or at least a system tag. If I know dell its probably a generic brand crap card with that load of memory as a bs-hype-vortex for n00b's to be sucked into.
