Default Death to agp what will be your last agp card?

If you where buying your last agp card ? Which agp Card would you buy and why? We might see our first pci express video card's as soon as 6 to 8 month's to a year. This meen's everything change's . Motherboard's will no longer have agp slot's and video card will now be the size of a wallet or creadit card. With knowing this what will be you last agp videocard?

i dont think agp will die anytime near the next year but if i had to id pick the geforce fx 5960 because it seems to me the best card out now. And yes it bests even the 9800xt in REAL tests.

Mot19 its a nv38 5950fx not a 5960fx and it will be fallowed by nv40 wicth may or may not be pci express. Fallowed by nv45 that will be a pci express video card. the nv40 will be in both 256/512mb model's and will be twice as fast as the nv38.PS the 9800xt has a slight advantage over the 5950 just a few frps faster in most case's.

Voodoo 5 6000 But seriously, probably a 9800 pro, I think I've waited long enough for a video card upgrade.

I will probably do one more upgrade before the architectural change. My main rig is running a 9500 hardware modded to a 9700 Pro, and the boyz rig has a Gainward GeForce4 Ti-4200 Golden Sample that will OC to just about anything I want, but that ain't going to work real shortly.

I keep seeing the reviews on the upcoming games (HL2, Doom, etc...) where the reviewers are running the latest hardware and they say the game is killing their video card.

Now I am not going to fault the game manufacturers for that, it's the first time in many moons where the games exceed the current hardware standard and it will be good for the video card industry as a whole. I know that HL2 alone will probably generate millions in sales for both nVidia and ATI.

Just like ya'll, I would love to run the latest video hardware, but monetary constraints prohibit that. Therefore, I will be looking shortly with great expectation for the next generation of video cards to hit the street so I can afford to purchase the current generation.

If I can get a card for around $200 that will run the "next" generation of games in a playable fashion, I will be all over it.

I'll prolly upgrade to a 9800 AIW when PCI express comes out (edit, should say though whatever card is like 180 bucks when PCI-express comes out).

Last time I was thinking of waiting for a major architectural change was when they were saying SATA would change everything. That and when they were expecting Athlon64's out a year ago. Oh how things never go as planned.

And like every major architectural change, don't expect what is said to be mind blowing to be a full switch immediately, just like SATA

I think my next card will be my last AGP. Im hoping to drop around $400 on one around christmas time. I upgrade video cards about once every 18 mos to 2 years so ill probably upgrade video, chip, and mobo at that time.

Sorry for the double post but what kinda bandwidth does pci express offer over agp 8x!?!?! I mean It cant be that much, and if the nv40 and nv45 are pci express im sure they will make agp counter parts.

I'm sticking with my 9500 pro until PCI express AFAIK...but it's heally hard to tell...who knows how expensive these puppies are gonna be...

Either way, for the next 18 months or so expect all vards to come in both AGP and PCI Express flavours, until AGP is completely phased out...maybe it'll even take longer than that.
