I did, its just that I am not comfortable switching brands. I've looked at some benchmarks and I like what I see so far compared to the 9600 & 9500... I'm going to wait a bit longer until I decide to make a purchase, make sure there aren't any major probs with it.

You're the one thinking about dropping the cash on that forsaken GFFX - not me. Besides - that's the way the industry works.

True, that is a pretty sh!tty card...but why go from sh!tty to still sh!tty, when for the same money you can go from sh!tty to smokin'?

Uhh....NO. It makes absolutely NO DIFFERENCE. Ask ANY of the pimps here running ATI on their NForce boards...tuns without issue. If you want to be loyal to Nvidia, that's your perogative. I'm just informing you there's better options.

You said you were thinking about it, and I'm here telling you that your thinking is a bit skewered. Buy it if you want. Think about it if you want. There are better options out there.

Yes, I think the 9600 would be a better price/performance ratio. That's why I'm running the 9500. (9600 predecessor) I used to have Nvidia cards, when they wore the performance crown. Now, the only Nvidia product I would buy is their chipset. I avoid their graphics card like the plague, until they can topple ATI convincingly. ...and without custom code paths that degrade image quality and suspect driver 'optimizations'. Note ATI needs neither, and their technology is a year older than Nvidia's.

[EDIT] spelling

OK to further beat this issue stupid. i have NF2 (NF7-S)chipset and an ATI videocard(9700pro AIW). if you can show me a Nvidia that is built during the same time ( not sure if the FX cards are compareable) that will Pull almost 19k in 3dmark 01 and almost 6k on 03. i will buy it NOW. Reason that I say this is that THERE AREN"T ANY!! lol NO Offence to Nvidia pimps out there. but the cards are just not impressive even the 5950 or whatever it is.......

The only "major probs" with the new Nvidia cards is their performance (or lack thereof).

"Not comfortable switching brands"??? WTF??? Are you on their payroll?

the 5700 runs alot better in hl2 they have shown and the 5950 keeps up with the the 9700pro in hl2 now. If it wasnt optimized for ati then it would be even. The new card will proboly work great as dx9 cards.

I am thinking that my last AGP Vid card will be the 5950. I bought the 5900U about 3 months ago and have had great success with it. It overclocked like a dream.

I hope to have my A64 rig built up within the next 2 weeks (withing for part/shipping) Looks like I will be going with the Chaintech mobo, Lian Li PC-75, Antec True550, Mushkin PC3500 (1gb) eVGA 5950, dual 120gb SATA HDD, DD maze 4 gpu, dd cpu block (model TBD), ehiem 1260 & 1248 pumps (plan on running 2 loops, keeps the flowrates up that way) dual bay res, thermochill 120.3 & 120.1 rads (need to figure out where to mount the gpu rad) and various optical drives.

What I am wondering is, should I install 2000pro or xp pro. I am running xp pro on my rig in the sig, but I have heard that you can get better bench scores with 2000pro. Hmmm...

Excellent. That's great. A CAD$500.00 video card now performes as well as a year-old CAD$350.00 video card. on a game that isn't released yet. Great. Everyone run out and buy one.

There are no optimizations for ATI. ATI's running a STANDARD DX9 CODEPATH - the fkn 'optimizations' are for the GFFX cards...those are the cards that need CUSTOM CODEPATHs just to keep up with the ATI's.
