This past March when I last formatted my hard drive, I started to get horizontal tearing issues about a month later (Late April-early May). This has never really happened on my set up before. Anyway, I know setting games to vsync should fix it, but it does absolutely nothing. The only thing that works is locking my framerate at 30 frames per second, which sucks because lots of games don't have this option, and 30 FPS sucks when I could be getting 100. I've tried updating drivers, rolling back to previous drivers, etc. and nothing seems to do anything. I would really appreciate some help as this is really getting me annoyed.

Games where it occurs most often are Age of Empires 3 and Halo PC.

Ive been having Major overheating problems with my 6800, so your not alone. Mine just artifacted and died. 2nd time it happened too.

Hmm... I thought that might have been the problem. It seems like if I turn my computer off for a little, it goes away bit. Maybe I'll have to open up my case and clean it out.
