Default 8800GTS slow at times

So I have a 640MB card here that drops to like 10 fps when I have a big explosion in C&C: Yuri's Revenge. I thought this was like a great card that would let me avoid these hiccups. It reminds me of my 9800XT. Is there something I can do to optimize my 8800GTS's abilities? Maybe in the NVidia control panel or the BIOS. NO OVERCLOCKING!

Newer cards, newer drivers, I'm not happy with with drivers Nvidia has pushed out in the last couple of months, but In time I figure they will get better. Another thing to consider is your overall system, that game is also fairly CPU intensive and disk dependent. Need more info about your rig.
1. What Res & refreash rate are you running
2. SLI is an option?
3. Cooling is important
4. I can't read your rigs spec via ESP little bit more info
5. Bench your system, make some OS tweaks, 3rd party drivers, defrag, what ever you can get that extra frame per second with some clean up.

Try these mate, ForceWare Windows XP/Media Center Edition (assuming you're on XP)

My 320Mb 8800GTS card got quite a boost from upgrading to the latest drivers.

Also sudden frame dips can indicate Spyway and a whole other host of stuff, like maybe your AV software is doing something... a common problem. If its just at graphically intense moments ignore that and just make sure you are running the latest chipset and GPU drivers.

You'd edit the BIOS but you won't overclock it? Crazy.

Edit the BIOS as in changing the graphics to allow for 640MB, not a set limit on the board.

The specs are:

Athlon 64 X2 6000+
2GB Corsair XMS2
EVGA 8800GTS 640MB
320GB HD
Evercool Silver Knight Heatsink
2x DVD
600 Watt PSU

I downloaded the newest drivers that came out this month and then ran some tests with 3DMark06

I changed my Nvidia control panel from 'highest quality' to 'best performance' and scored more than 300 points better.

I then changed my image settings from 'Quality' to 'High Performance' and bumped my score up another 17 points.

The Anti Aliasing and Anisotropic filtering are set to 'Application Controlled'. Is there anything else I should look for before I try my game again?
