Default ATI HDTV Tuner Install Issues...

Hi everyone...
I have an ATI HDTV Tuner that I have been trying to install for the last couple of days. It's not been going very well. I googled my problems and found that it seems to be a common problem, but I still haven't found a soulution. The hardware gets recognized upon first install but can't get any further. The driver doesn't seem to want to play nice. Anyway, tried the multiple solutions I found on the web to no avail. I was wondering if someone knew of a solution. I'm running XP Pro on an Asus P4P800 SE with 1 GB of Memory. I also have a 9800 Pro (which I flashed to 9800XT). I have always worked out any sort of hardware or software issues before but this is baffling me. Please help! Thanks...

I had all kinds of issues with mine when I first installed it. If I am remembering correctly I installed the lastest drivers from ati, then without deleting or uninstalling anything installed the software from the cd that came with it (older version of the software). After I did that I pulled the card, restarted the system. Shut it down and reinstalled the card, after all that silliness it finally recognized the tuner card and allowed me to watch tv.

I ran into some other problems also just based on the fact that I am running a geforce video card, so I have both catalyst video card drivers and the geforce drivers on my machine at the same time.

These things are infamous for having problems like the one you described. Most websites suggest that you do a fresh install of windows, though that seems like far too much work to me. I owned one of these cards for several months and had lots of problems installing it, was worth it once I got it figured out though...until I no longer had cable tv.

What I can tell you is not to use any of the software or drivers that come with the card. Ati has a full package which can be downloaded from their website

HDTV Wonder™ Drivers and ATI Multimedia Software for Windows XP Professional/Home Edition - December 2006

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the replies...I forgot to mention that I also tried using different PCI slots. In doing this I found that some slots took the install further than other slots. Do you think this can be a result of some sort of IRQ sharing conflict?

I actually just got my HDTV wonder to work about an hour ago, after trying for about 7 or 8 months.

What I did was totally uninstall the card, from device manager(while the card was still plugged in), all the software, everything.
Turn off the computer and take out the card, then turn it back on and run for a little while and make sure no trace of the card remains.
Turn the computer back off and install the card, turn the computer on but when windows starts up do not let it install from the auto detect plug-and-play intallation.
I then installed the drivers and software from the link hazardous posted (it will not let you continue past the 3rd or 4th driver install because it is just an upgrade). Once you get to the one that won't install then install from the cd that came with it.

If you are lucky then that might work, it did for me, if not then I dont know what to tell you.
