Radeon 9600xt issue

First of all hey guys i'm new here. But, one of my friends gave me his old videocard the 9600xt. So I have downloaded .NET Framework 2.0, but when I try to download the drivers the CCC and the display on the site and an error window pops up and says like "Setup was unable to complete the installation. Try to setup a Standard VGA driver for your diplay adapter before installing setup".
Please help guys.

Have you installed any other drivers for the card yet, i.e. windows drivers? Did your friend also give you the driver disc for that card? I used to have a 9600, but I only got that message when I upgraded to an x800. Try installing some basic windows drivers for it first, or better yet try installing the drivers in safe mode... as that was what worked for me.

Welcome to PC Apex!

Regarding your problem, did you properly uninstall your old video drivers before attempting to install the 9600XT? The way to do this is to uninstall the old drivers using Add/Remove programs, reboot, then reboot again into safe mode, run Driver Cleaner to get rid of all the leftover crap (Download Driver Cleaner Professional 1.5 - Driver Cleaner Pro - an improved and better version of Driver Cleaner - Softpedia), and then reboot again.

Google gives me a few hints about your problem; in particular this thread.

Make sure that integrated video (if available) is disabled in your BIOS. Also check for chipset driver updates for your motherboard.

Additionally, please give details of your computer's specifications.

Results: Well it seems that it still won't work BTW i'm trying to download the drivers with CCC.

Well i I rebboted out of safe mode and then I tried again.
