Hello there guys... I just installed STALKER and patch it. and the game runs fine on my spec (you can see them om my sig)
but there are a few graphical glitches that are starting to bug me.. li suddenly on that sky a blue cylinder would appear, not just a black line but lin a solid 3d object. and some time a cone would come up form some NPC head or arms,.... it sounds funny but the game is so inmersive that this kinds of bugs really pull you out of it....
I experienced some of these bugs on another game I just got, Infernal but after downloading asus lattest driver thy seem to be gone.. Y tried running 3dmark05 to see if it was heat related,but it ran fine the same applyed to FEAR, Oblivion, And rainbow six Vegas....If it was only one game I just blame it on the engine and leave it like that but it happened on 2 so far even tough the bugs on infernal are gone. any ideas??? hope somebody can shed some light...

Do a proper clean install of your video drivers (ie - removing, rebooting into safe mode, running driver cleaner, and then rebooting again, installing drivers and rebooting again), then reinstall your Direct X by grabbing the redist from here: Download DirectX Redistributable 9.0c February 2007 - DirectX 9.0c is a very useful application for running and displaying applications rich in multimedia elements - Softpedia

Sorted mine out when it was giving me visual glitches in Bf2142.

The main problem is that it isn't a very good game... Your probably having driver problems though. Get the newest one for your hardware.

Likely driver or OC related issues. Is your vid card overclocked by chance?
If so, try backing your OC down a bit. If not then the drivers are the likely culprit.

hello and thanks fro the replays... well im running on the latest asus drivers... i guess ill go and use the latest from the nvidia page.. a for OC, this ver of the card is factory OC... but its not running that hot... 42 on idle 51 on load...any way ill try the clean driver install, and using the nvidia ones and post the results tomorrow...

I worked!! in downloaded the latest drives form nvidia page, use drivecleanerpro, and presto...instead of actifacts all the time, i got one during 2 hours of playing.... by the way, great game!

Glad you got it sorted. Drivers are a pain sometimes.

AND UPDATE....

Actually apart from the driver problem. it seems my 7900gt card is damaged... I been searching on different forums about this issue and it appears to be and Nvidia reference board one.. it has affected a lot of 7900 specially those that are OC..... since I can`t RMA form my country I`ll have to keep this card till I can buy a new one tough Im not sure it will be a nvidia one....
