just wondering what software is good for OC'ing a 9600pro. rive tuner says it supports like everything besides a 9600. but i figured it owuld work. just dont wanna install some stuff that is gonna jack it up before i have a chance to break it whilst OC'ing it.

rivatuner dosnt support tweaking the driver frequincys but u can overclock it still. I use rivatuner and im happy with it. Got my Radeon 9600 pro to 450 core and 375(750) memory. Pretty good i do say so my self

I just picked up a 9600 pro after my ti-4600 just died... I have to say Im really impressed. My old games look soo much better, was even able to actvate bump-mapping in 1 game that never worked with nvidia. One of my demos locked up in 4x aa mode but outside of that it runs great.

To everyone OCing this card, are you running it with the stock hs? I added some ramsinks to it and a 2nd fan blowing on the card, wanted to know before i start cranking up numbers.

It depends what "brand" of card ATi,Sapphire,Gigabyte,ASUS.. and so on.. ive never had problems with my stock one

EEk, yer memory clock seems a bit slow, my 9000 pro defaults at 250mhz (500) ddr, which is at 280mhz (560 DDR) right now

My Clocks that i try to set on riva tuner are 400/300 but everytime i test it sets it back to 397 and 298 can someone help me out?

For some reason I noticed that RivaTuner bumps it down a bit sometimes...Dunno why.

What you can do is set it to 403 and 302, then test. It should give you 400 and 300 then.

Or is that the stock speeds? if so, there is something else going on. Have you tried Powerstrip or rage 3-D?

about how far could i OC on stock cooling...i plan to get one of those zalman giants in a month or 2 or 3...
i only set the numbers at 400/300 cause i like round numbers

Isnt the stock speed 400/300 .... mine is at 500/330(crappy ram limited at 330MHz) With the stock hsf.


My core wont stay stable over 500 for some reason, must be soem sort of problem with my card. I put my computer outside and it was -10 and couldnt get 1 mhz over 500 stable

Its because it cannot run at 400 actually, it has to run at 397 because it isnt using driver frequincies, but low level. Tycoon, i have gotten my radeons core to 520 stable, with some PIMP cooling(aka desk fan blowing on it) Im going to get a iceberq 4 pro, and memory sinks to put on her and i bet i could take the core to 550, hell maybe 600. Ive heard of XTs hitting 600 once in awhile why not my radeon9600. And 330 is good on the memory tycoon, i can only hit 335 and its the built by ati model. I felt the ram and it is BURNING on the card at that speed, so we deffinetly need to put some ram sinks on.Whats the most have all of you gotten the core to?

My ram doesnt get hot at all, but its the crappy stuff limited at 330MHz, i wish someone would find some sort of crazy volt mod that could make 9600s go faster than an XT

Tycoon, go on google, type in radeon 9600 mod, there is a volt mod for it, 9700s, 9800s, and 9500s. Im not ganna try it anytime soon because my radeon is kicking some ass, and it needs no voltage boosts. Maybe when im ganan try to get the core to 600 i will try it. Right now my highest with the stock cooling is 525. I say its time to slap a giant vga heatpipe HSF thingy on it, or a iceberq 4 pro. Thats my new goal, is to hit 600 on the core. I wonder if anyone else has ever got any core that high. If not ill hold the title of fastest core in the WORLD! MUWHAHAHAHA..... eehhmm, by the way Big Deuce, id say its safe to push to 450 easy, then try 470, then from there increase in about 2-3 mhz increments and when your hitting around 500 i go by one, because your hitting dangerously high temps by now proboly.
