Default Video Card hitting 121 Degrees Celcius!!!!

I am running 2 EVGA geoforce 6800gts in sli and one of them is fine, but the other is over heating like crazy. I checked and the fan on it is running fine. In the Nvidia control panel one video card says its core temperature is 70 celcius and the ambient temp is 53 celcius; while the other video card says its core temperature is 89 celcius and the ambient temperature is 56 celcius. These numbers are under just normal conditions, no gaming, just web browsing like i am right now. What the hell is wrong?!?!?!?!?!

Those temps aare like that when my cpu is 39c and my mobo is 38c.

I'd check the temp with an external diode somehow, also, feel the GPU with your hand and compare it by touch to the other. If the temp actually is running that high, RMA the card man.

Check clock settings too. Have you OC'd?

Do you suffer artifacting? Run a few loops of 3dMark. If it artifacts, it's definitely overheating.

Remove the heatsink and reapply some quality thermal paste.

Just a follow up. I took out the video cards and took off the face plate of the heatsinks. There wasn't much dust there but it all formed a clump at the exhaust of the heatsink. So i cleaned the heatsink and now the temps are all back to normal!!! Thanx everyone for your help!
