![]() | I'm the happy owner of a heavily modded Antec Aria - blow holes, sidefans, PSU-fan replacement and so on. It's based on a MSI Micro-ATX 939 motherboard, AMD 64-3200 (Clawhammer), 1 GB DDR-SDRAM, Liteon DVD-CD combo, a 160GB 7200 Maxtor disc, an external (USB2) Maxtor 250 GB disc and a Nvidia 6600GT card. The latter is the one I wish to replace, but I'm uncertain if I'm able to draw enough juice from the standard Antec 300W psu for this purpose? Seen people with a similar setup who uses a 7800GT card without problem. What are you guys advice - could I go down this road? Cheers, Svend |

| Mastah Overclocker | Boy thats tough... I suggest you get the Apex "Power Calculator" by Fu3lman and add up what you have..and see if you have some headroom. ![]() If it's close to maxing it out..I woud say you need to upgrade the PSU too...it's not good to amke your PSU work it's ass off! Or look at some of the "Low Power" video cards that are designated for SFF computers. NVIDIA is about to launch a DX-10 "8600" series of cards..they (I believe) will be made with a smaller process than current cards (80 NM?) wich should be much more power effecient than the 7600 series of cards, and should be available soemtime after Feb, for under 200$.

![]() | Hi' $SOLID$ Necro Thank's for the informative response. It seems that my power demand with the upcoming 8600GT will go a bit above the 300W I have available in the Antec Aria. The problem with the Arias PSU is that it's case-specific and that a common ATX-PSU won't fit. I'm eager to know whether anyone has been able to upgrade (mod) the PSU to something bigger or use an external option? Cheers, Svend (Sorry for this danes english) |
