| Hey guys, so i just got my new sli set up, 7800GT's anyway i got a question, when i open riva tuner to overclock the cards it only displays 1 set of memory/core timings to adjust, will this set both cards to the selected speed ? or can you not use riva tuner to overclock cards in SLI ? also i have run into a problem, dont want to double post so please check out my post in hardware troubleshoting about my slow boot up problem. Thanks. | ||

Yeah as always, pcapex members gave me good info on my questions/problems, everything was running VERY well untill my psu craped out on me (600watt enermax noisetaker II) so for the moment i cant run SLI untill i get a new psu, i dont think the coolermaster 450 watt can handle my system. please let me know if you thinkl otherwise i have a p4 prescott @ 3.8Ghz 1gb ram, 1x 150gig hdd 1x 250gig hdd 2x 7800GT (if in sli) and a zalman 9500 also 2x 120mm case fans are going. the psu is the coolermaster realpower 450 watt, i was told that aslong as it could put out 30A with 12v or somthing that it would be ok, but on the side of the psu it reads dc output +12V1 +12V2 PEAK 18A 16A do i add both up together ? or is the 12volt amp peak 18 amps ? the reason i ask if you add them up is because there are two power rails, im not 100% sure on how psu's work n such so just makin sure. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Well, to be sure, I grabbed Fu3lmans PC Apex PSU calculator, and plugged in the numbers..I assumed you had a DVD writer, 1 USB device, and a mild 10% OC across the board...418 watts with SLI, 335 with a single card! I'd say the 450 watt will probably run it, but like Salymate said, it will be running right on the ragged edge, I like to see at least 100 watts headroom or more, so the PSU isn't working it's ass off! You can get the app below, and try plugging in your real numbers for a bit more accuracy. PCApex Files - Files | ||

| Yeah i am using it at the moment, it does run hot so i added a fan to the back to move more air, if that would even help i am not sure, i did remove the smalelr HDD, it just holds images and random data, so this will also save some power. that psu tool is sweet ![]() | ||

| keep it cool, and get a new psu as soon as possible remember what happened with my graphics card oh, that was with an enermax psu, too but, it was a three hundred watt enermax IM quite sure you have a bigger overclock than ten the bigger overclock, oh, and oh your graphics card slash cards would make a difference on the power consumption, so, your power consupmtion might be a bit higher, or a lot, than what you expect meha, just be careful, and be careful if go back to one card, maybe put an old one in, to test if you're using too many watts, you can slowly burn out the regulators, and then, when there isn't such a load on it, the regulators might let too much through, and damage something which is probably how mine died sorry, this is a tad long edit I should goto bed, soon | ||
