| Hi guys, I'm just experimenting with my 512Mb 7900gs, but one problem that's arrisen is that, I can't get the core clock past 800MHz. I've read that it can be pushed to 1400. The problem is though the actual slider bar ends at 800MHz. I'm using the advance section of the NVIDIA Control Panel, has anyone else had this problem? I'm hoping there is a tweak for the registry that allows me to continue on my journey. Cheers guys. | ||

| There are other programs you can use to OC, inlcuding Riva Tuner, ATI Tool (Yes it works on NVIDA) and Tray Tools. However, I think you might like "Sys Tool" since it can also adjust CPU speeds and memory timings (IF your motherboard is supported..even if it's not on the list, you may be able to make it work if you can find the correct PLL driver in the list) SysTool - System Tweaking and Overclocking Utility Your "Real" problem is your confusing the "Core" speeds with your memory speeds! (And don't forget, memory speeds are "Doubled" since its DDR, so setting 800MHZ on the slider bar is "Effectively" 1600MHZ!) There is no way you are going to get a NVIDIA core to 800MHZ with out mods and LN-2 cooling..even then it may not be possible! AnandTech: The NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS: A Closer Look Look at the link below, it show some conservative clock speeds that have been found to be stable for the 7900GS, but as always..OC'ing is dependant on the luck of the draw, some will not do as well as others, even if they were made on the line right next to each other! | ||

| Home :: MVKTech :: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX, GTS, ATI Radeon X1950 XTX, XT Check the forums here for more info on maxing out your card, you can even "Flash" it to run at OC settings without having to mess around with it all the time, and other advanced features found in NBITOR Have you tried RivaTuner, or SYS Tool to get past the 800MHZ wall? If you use them, they often will "Extend" the clock speed limits, set it to 800 on the slider bar, and then "Right Arrow" over, and then it will ask you if you want to extend it. You might even try ATI Tool, It works with most NVIDA cards too! | ||

Sorry for a slight thread-jack, but $SOLIDS$, have you heard anything about a possibility of being able to flash an X1950 pro to XT or XTX speeds? I know it's probably a long shot, but isn't the core the same, just with less pipes?

You'll never a 7900GS core to 1400MHz, not even on LN2.
I don't think thats possible, different core and different PCB.

You can ALWAYS set your default clock speeds higher than stock by using RABITOR and modding them, then flashing the modified Bios to your card I checked too see if you could unlock any extra pipelines too (PCB is a new design and probably not like other PCB's where they are just disabled) and didn't find anything..so I doubt it, but keep your eyes open. MVKTECH.net is the place for that..I didn't search the forums there so plug in X1950 PR) and see what pops up! I found an intresting article at VR Zone about the X1950 Pro, check it out...Seems as if the VRM's get to hot (Voltage regulator Modules) and are not able to take volt mods, but still does a decent OC with stock volts. | Ah awesome app, Necro. Thanks alot The CPU oc'ing app is a nice little addition to it but I get a problem when I write my chosen frequency, my system freezes and I must reboot. I've tried numerous different clock speeds with it but no luck.

I take it you are having no problems with OC'ing the vid card with Sys Tool? just the CPU? What motherboard are you using? Could be it is detecting the PLL chip that controls cpu clockspeeds wrong, you may have to try a different one in the drop down menu...hard to say wich one though! If it's an AMD board, then you can use CBID (Central Brain Identifier) or one of many other utilities to OC from windows..Programs that work with both AMD and Intel are Clock Gen, Crystal CPUID, and maybe a few others that escape me at the moment. I have links to some of them below: http://forums.pcapex.com/other_oc_ha...ollection.html You may also be able to use software made by the motherboard manufacturer, Asus, Abit, Gigabyte, MSI...etc usually have a utility for it...some even allow for voltages and memory timings! Reflux..thanks buddy! I love to see our members get the most out of there rigs, and often all it takes is a little nudge and a link to "Get er' done" ![]()

| Yep, the GPU OC function works perfect, it's just the CPU. I'm using a Asus P5B-Deluxe. I was using the "Asus AI Suite" for my overclocking but I've been having a few problems with it as in, it not applying the correct frequencies when I apply them. So I thought maybe a non-commercial app might be slightly better but same kinda problem really. Edit- Yep, this AI Suite also has options for Voltages and Memory timings! | ||
