Hi all, i've had this 7950gt for a bit now & have just got round to fitting an E.K waterblock to it, that i've had since i got the card & also did the bios volt mod from 1.25v > 1.35v.
On air the best o.c i could get was 621/1584 & now with the waterblock & volt mod in place, just using the detecd optimal clocks went straight up to 641/1602 a nice little improvement. Also the temps have dropped by a nice bit as well, on the stock air cooler idle was 45c & with the waterblock on idle is 22c , i've yet to find out what the load temps will be but after a benching session i'll find out ....... with any luck i might even nick the 4th place spot in aquamark for the 7950GT

I've read that the pencil v.mod for the mem works on the 7950gt as it does on the 7900 so i might gic=ve that a go, seeing as my mem doesn't seem to go that high at the moment

I really gotta upgrade to watercooling on my system. I was running 610/1600 stable with my 7950gt on the factory cooler but it got really hot with extended benchmarking, something like 75-80c. It's kinda why I haven't updated any of my 3dmark scores recently. I'll be keeping an eye out on your progress to see how yours comes along, running 22c at idle would be awsome. Good luck with it.

Well i did the pencil v.mod for the mem & wow i really wasn't expecting it to go this high on either the core or mem.

I just followed this guide for the v.mod, the only thing i found to be different was the ohm reading instead of 608ohm it was 603ohm, i shaded the resistor down to 553ohm . At stock the mem voltage is 1.97v after the mod it was 2.17v ..... now do i go for the conductive pen mod or should i leave it alone

Just cover the vmod with some celophane tape, if you use the conductive paint pen, then you will have a hard time undoing it if you ever need to RMA it!
