Hi guys i've played the waiting game and it has been interesting

Here in the UK we have GECUBES' x1950pro 256mb AGP card for £154 now which sure is nice and people praise this card well

Sapphire are on pre-order and their x1950pro has 512mb of video memory for £175

Now sapphire is confusing, cos it should surely have 12 pixel pipes, but some people think it might have 8? It makes no sense that it has 8 but if it DID you would expect it to not be so good!

Also is my antec neopower 480w gonna be alright powering these new cards? I would hope so!

well m8 i have a HIS x1950xtx 512mb and it was only £220 and well *grabs box of tissues* (just incase) it is an imense card, ive had mine up to 760mhz / 1143 mhz, i need a better clocking tool for it as the memory has a lot more to give, however, the biggest problem with this card is bandwidth to the ram, getting some water on it later once ive got a 1KW PSU, as my old 550 aint cutting it anymore. the problem being with the x1950s over the x1900s is that GDDR4 at the same speed with a higher latency, but the ram has a LOT of room for improvement,. with better cooling, more control over the voltages/timings and a working clocking tool it shows a lot of potential.

my biggest problem is that i have an opti165 running on the board clocked at 294x9, so power management is a BIG issue. this card is hungry and that is an understatement, it uses about 190+ watts at load

tbh i was very happy with my 9800pro/xt/thingy but it died and needs must as the devil flys

furio that's a very impressive overclock on the core there, but is your memory speed right? I thought the mem would run at 1400mhz stock?

you're scaring me with the PSU issue tho!
I thought the antec neopower I have would be ok, I mean its a good name brand, looks cool and was £90 when I bought it lol!

As Ive said, you can look up the Review of the PCIE card and expect to get almost the same performance.

I dunno. I looked at that card when I was looking for one and the reviews said the X800 or X850 Beats that thing...Plus you can Unlock 2 Extra Pipelines by softmodding them...

I don't understand Nerdz, what's wrong with the HIS card, if we are talking about 1950pro's for AGP why isn't this the best one?
Do you have a link to that review pls?

I saw this, and I thought it was kind of neat
there're a lot more new agp cards than I thought

TrustedReviews - AGP Graphics Card Group Test

I know they don't review the card we're talking about, here, but, I still think it's neat, there's quite a few agp cards

well when i was stating about the x1950 xtx i was refairing to my PCI-E one, however i would be supprised if the AGP veriant did not perform to the same kind of standard. and no 1400mhz on the ram would be silly, as the best clocks on gddr4 is 1143mhz as thats as far as you can go with ati tool atm

personaly i would go for what you feel most comfortable with or if you must spend so much on an agp card at least keep in mind to perchase one of these further down the line

or even

the latter has been released and is a AGp -> PCI-E bridge card allowing you to keep your AGP card on a PCI-E system, the prior however has not been released and is a concept card with both AGP and PCI-E on the same card.

well as i said i didn't expect much of a performance drop from going from PCI-E to AGP, however i belive that next gen games will show through something different, for the money you are spending on this card you could perchase a decent MOBO bundle with CPU, RAM, and motherboard compatible for PCI-E.

the x1950 series of cards are showing a lot of promise, when i get a little bit more money to throw around ill let you know more. well between that and a working overclocking tool

In the UK bundles start at £400 or more, no where NEAR £187, plus I would want at least a £600 bundle
Parts in the US are very cheap you guys are so lucky
It just doesn't hold true everyone saying go PCI-E for the same money, it's impossible in the UK.

Funny that your quote ' the whole greater than the sum of its parts' kinda a definition of synergy really...

You're looking at roughly £320 for a new CPU/Mobo/RAM, if you go down the Core 2 E6300 route.

Have you not bought that card yet Syn?!
