Default Thread for 7900GT volt mod?

I am apparently either dumbed down or more tired than I think but I cannot find that thread for some reason.
I just kinda want to know what I can expect from this card before the volt mod and that was one of the "good sources".
As of this morning I have gotten her to 585/1670 stable through all the 3DMarks, Aquamark, Sandra05, and SuperPi.

Well. You are mostly going to gain alot of mhz on the core. The memory volt mods dont really help on the 7600GT and 7900GT cards. I found that ramsinks and a fan blowing over them really helped the ram clocking. As far as the volt mod on the core. Alot of cards ahve been dieing because of bad caps. I would keep it stock for now. The newer cores really do love voltage if you can cool them correctly. On water i was pushing 1.95V on my 7600GT same core as the 7900GT just disabled pipes and what not. I was able to get the core clocks up to like 800mhz not daily stable but the cores do have alot of headroom available when vlt modded and cooled. You might get 650mhz - 700mhz depending on cooling and how far you push the volt mod.

Haha, I am on STOCK cooling for the vid card at the moment (but had 75F ambient and an extra box fan blowing on it) as the Zally VF900 would fit the card but not the mobo (mobo components in the way even after "modding" the cooler.
I already mentioned to you that I have tentative plans for water cooling my vid card only as there really won't be much need for watering down the CPU with the CNPS9500 and the ambients I have. I know I am not gonna break any records on the stock cooler (except maybe highest clock on stock cooler), but I think that is good so far without artifacting. You think?
My Asus AI Booster shows the PCI-e voltage at 3.3 though.

It was nice upping the clocks and watching my Aquamark scores keep going up and up.

You might want to look into MVK, the Forums are full of tips for tweaking that card, and you might even be able to use NBITOR to raise the voltage, it works with some cards like my 6800 Ultras...It let me go to around 1.5v.

You can also try flashing different brand cards bios's, they may have looser memory timings, allowing you to clock them higher...I know you can modify them yourself, but that may be a bit much to try right off the get go...I would think you would be better off having a pro take a shot at it if you decide to go that way (Mavke helped me out a bit tweeking my cards)

Guides :: MVKTech :: NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2, ATI Radeon X1950 XTX

VRZONE is a good place for hard voltage mods, Shamino is the guy with the tweaks over there...check out the guide section for your card.

Last time I checked the 7900GT and GTX article was down with no photos because of a server crash and they didnt back any of it up. You cant mo d it like your 6800 necro. I can however adjust the memory timings if youd like.

Yeah, I was afraid of that, I remember something about no Bios volt mods for the 7900GTX, but wasn't sure about the GT's...that sux!

Mighty nice of you to offer to modify his timings Mr.Planet!

Still, make sure you check out the forums over there GF, they have lots of threads on getting the most from your card.

Forums over there recently are mainly bioses and thats just about it. They do have soem good guides though. I will be modding my timings soon. Which card and model do you have ill see if we have the same bios.

7600GT, 7900GT, 7900GTX voltage mods. They might not be exactly the same on your card. I know some XFX cards arent base off the nvidia refrence boards.

Ahh yes, that first VR-Zone link is the one I was looking for, that is where I got the idea for PowerStrip versus other utilities to begin with.
Yes, mine is an XFX 7900GT Extreme Edition (meaning factory OCed for those that don't already know) and for future reference I TRY to keep my profile info current. Just had to change 3DMark scores in there though, I had forgotten they were even displayed there.
I wan't this more for reference at the moment because I am researching further cooling methods since the VF900 I bought will not let the card fit in my mobo. Circled below is the component in the way. It just won't let the card fit all the way into the slot as it catches on the fins of the cooler even after "modding" them.
I am strongly leaning toward the vid card water loop though still.

Any water gurus with suggestions for a water loop for vid only? Or possibly even vid and chipset only?

There are a few companies that make stand alone watercooling for the vid card, however, cooling the NB chipset with water is a waste of time on an AMD board IMO...they just don't get that hot.

If you are considering going water, and are considering doing the vid card and NB, it's not much more hassle to do the CPU...I would guess you are considering this for noise reduction and extra OC performance.

Danger Den :: Water Cooling Kits :: Configured Kits and Specials :: Danger Den 4200 Kit 300$

The above kit is Danger Dens top rated set up in kit form and add a NB cooler for 38$ and you should have everything you need for a slient set up that is very powerfull (Maybe a few more clomps and an extra few feet of hose)

Danger Den :: Water Blocks :: Chipset Water Blocks NB cooler.

Total price would run about 350$, or I am sure you could put one together for a bit less using one of the lower priced kits as a base....You might even want to talk to Rokk (CPU Killer) about it, or possibly see if he would let you do it as a review item.

If you wanted to do a water cooling for just gpu. You could grab a Maze 4 some 3/8 tubing. A single black ice pro. A Danger Den Mag II or DDC 12v pump and a res or fill port and call it a a day. It will def hold whatever you want to throw at that card.

Yeah Necro, I only want to do the vid card then I guess if the chipset doesn't get that hot, because in all honesty now that I have a new AC unit in the house I can get damn close in temps with the CNPS9500 to what I would get with water.
I am thinking though about a low profile block like the Maze 4 simply because I am unsure if the 7900 block will fit in my mobo. Low profile/small footprint sounds nice anyway now that I think about it, but would 1/2 inch tubing be overkill for a vid only loop?

Yea 1/2 inch really isnt needed. I even Rokk at dangerden has been doing 3/8 for his entire h2o loopjust because it was easier to route

The Maze 4 won't fit my card, and the Koosah won't fit my mobo due to lack of clearance.
Any other suggestions? Innovatek? Alphacool?

Where does it say it wont fit your card. It will fit the 7600, 7900GT, 7900GTX they just dont list it on the webpage. I will talk to the boys over at DD about updating the webpage

As of the 6800 series they standardized the hsf mount on nvidia cards. The only cards they wont fit are the oddball cards like the 7800GS

I looked at every one of them and they only say up to 7800, not 7900. Only one listed to fit the 7900 is the Koosah.

I like how we are whoring up the forums lol. They will fit the 7900GT. If you give me a few days I will put my low profile maze4 on my xfx 7900GT to show you it fits. I just gotta finish up testing on the stock hsf and what not.

If it will fit that is cool but would the low profile Maze 4 get in the way of using any RAM sinks?
