| So i read that the 6800 extreme PCI-X version cannot be unlocked to 12 pipes, the only way to get more pipes is to have an SLI config (16 pipes total). Personally I have always purchased ATI cards, mainly because using friend's PC's with Nvidia cards doing a little bit of everything didnt have the crisp look i enjoy out of an ATI card. That said, I dont have any real experience OC'ing Nvidia cards. Watercooling will be applied to the core with a DD maze 4 accel block, and I'm curious on how the Nvidia mem chips operate under an OC. Do i need to pay special attention to cooling them with high dollar HS's or Koolance WB's, or would i do just fine with some OCZ copper sinks? Basically which area would the Nvidia card have the most lenience for OC; The core or the Mem? I'm asking mainly because the time frame that this card will be maxed out will be very short, not too much time to test the waters with or bench for a couple days. Thanx. | ||

| Cool Bits or Sys tool should do the trick for OCing, Cool bits is made by NVIDIA and works right from the control panel, and even has an auto overclocking feature. Sys tool has a similar feature, plus the abilty to OC the CPU and ram, all in one tool. My BFG 6800 Ultra's came clocked at 425x1100 and would OC to around 450x1200, not bad considering the reference desgin was 400x1100. With a bios flash and using NBITOR, I was able to bump the voltage up to 1.5v, and under extreme low ambient temps using the stock cooler, I could bench at 485-490 core and a bit over 1300MHZ on the ram. Check out this thread for links and other tools u may find helpfull. http://forums.pcapex.com/other_oc_ha...ollection.html | ||
