| Apex Tech Maniac | Contrary to other posts I've been making , I can't justify a complete system upgrade untill my x800 pro dies. I paid a good amount for her less than a year ago and I believe she's worth every penny. So rather than drop the uglier side of £1000 on a new system I want to open her up some more. I can currently squeeze 520 mhz out of the core and 1120 mhz out of the memory, anything higher and it just artifacts it's ass off. I was going to try and re-attach the 4 severed pipes at one stage but I since lost interest in that. Then again I know its the easiest way (assuming it would work) to get a nice performance boost. So can anyone recommend me some cooling for this card to accompany my increasing over volt? My case is very cramped but obviously anything over stock and works on air is gonna be a definite winner. I was thinking something by zalman, what do you guys think? |

| At-Whore | With a cramped case, something like Arctic Cooling's Silencer would be your best best. It vents all the hot air OUT of the case. You should try volt-modding the card. Give Zaltan a jingle, i'm sure he knows what to do.

Well, that's too bad. It wouldn't hurt to give it another shot once you get a better cooler on there. I bet it'll scale a lot better when you do.

| P'Hoe'toshop Fanatic | Don't know if you're still in the hunt to squeeze every bit of juice out of your X800 still or not. But if you haven't already, try THESE memory timings with your card... Zaltan suggested them to me a few months ago when I was pushing mt X800XT and they worked great. |

| Apex Tech Maniac | ok to update. Those timings didn't get me much improvement at all. Tried my own after an hour of testing and I've seen a significant gain. Now I tried to kill the x800 over the weekend. Volt modded into fairly high figures and upped the clocks. I can now do 570 / 1140 mhz CS stable. I'd like a bit more though. Temps seem fine. |

Thats weird that the timings didn't do anything. The only reason for this that I can think of would be that your X800PRO has different memory... Is it 2ns or 1.6ns?
Yes, Zalman's are always good...

| Apex Tech Maniac | I went with the zalman a few weeks ago ![]() When I mentioned tweaking in my previous post I actually took some volts off the memory and vddq to get it stabler at a higher frequency. I think I'm at the sweet spot for my memory right now. ill have to take meassurements for the current volts so can remember them incase i want to play again (probably will). edit: i got over my heat a bit by removing my dvd drive, one hd and a floppy drive Last edited by z0mbi3; 26-April-06 at 05:55 AM. |

| At-Whore | Nice job on the OC, man. If you can get 600/600 for daily use, i'll be really impressed.

I got my old X-800Pro "Bench stable" with the pencil volt mod using the stock cooler, I know a few people that were doing it with water...so with his new set up he might have a shot

Well you know how long it took me to get the nads to do it but now I just can't kill the thing. I'm quickly running out of places to draw lines tho. I think I can get there. The temperatures are still below what I was seeing at stock. Times a bit short at the moment. I've just started with a CSS clan now with PCW's like every night so I can't be testing the oc's are stable at the risk of a crash mid game. That and I can't be on the comp all the time! I'm off work tomorrow though so I might get my hands dirty then.
