Default Best 3rd Party ATI Drivers?

I have used Omega drivers on my old 9600XT without problems, but what about DNA's drivers? Which is the best/most compatible/stable?

I tried them with my X850 XT PE and didn't really like em. I'm actually using the latest Catalyst drivers now.

Funny you say that, since that's exactly what I have. But, I'm having an issue with it, (I think Driver caused) I have some bright light blue artifacting (if you can call it that) just when I'm scrolling down pages here. It could also be that my connector isn't fully seated, but it seems too isolated to be that...

i haven't got a problem with them
it just seams to be a touchy thing cause i ran the last version of the omega drivers and my card didn't like them

NGO drivers pwn all....

Quote:

* Updated ATI Tray Tools to v1.0.4.780
* Updated ATI Catalyst Uninstall Utility to v6.14.10.1014
* Removed OpenGL Driver Switcher (it's now available in the files section)
* Improved Control Panel behavior
* Improved Installer
* Improved support for some legacy cards
* Improved OpenGL compatibility for Mobility/FireGL/IGP/XPRESS GPUs
* Added support for X1800/X1600/1300 GPUs
* Added support for more Mobility/FireGL/IGP/XPRESS GPUs
* Rewritten tweak code
* Pixel Shader code optimization
* Enabled DMA Copy
* Enabled KTX Buffer Region
* Disabled Programmed PCI Latency
* Enabled Adaptive Anti-Aliasing by default (Ultra Edition)
* Enabled High Quality Anisotropic Filtering by default (Ultra Edition)
* Automatic sets SystemPages for the optimal value
* General bugfixes

PCI Latency Tool
We decided to include this handy tool so you could adjust the PCI latency in order to avoid PCI bus choking. It helps optimize performance and resolve stuttering and sound issues. It's recommended to set latency values to 64 for all your PCI/AGP Devices. This tool doesnt support PCI Express cards.

Installation
Please, uninstall your previous driver before proceeding with this Installation. Please use the ATI Catalyst Uninstall Utility in order to Uninstall your current driver.

Ultra Edition
The Ultra Edition is optimized for cards with 256Mb or more. It uses the ram in a more effective way in order to produce higher performance. It also may be used with 128Mb cards but don't expect the same level of performance gain.

Standard Edition
The Standard Edition is recommended for All Radeon cards. This edition is especially recommended for those users that can't use the Ultra Edition.

edit: looks like I'm upgrading to this set tonight...

Thanks for the link to that site, nice to see they do nVidia ones too. Hooray! A set of drivers other than the crappy Dell ones that actually work on my laptop! Boosted my 3dmark score by 30 too. Coolbits won't work though

Installed those on the desktop and laptop, got a 20 point increase in 3D mark on my laptop which is nice and the desktop seems a little more stable.

Does anyone know why the overclocking functions have been removed and how to get them back? If I uninstall just tray tools and install another version will it have any effect on the drivers?

Ati tray tools are best to use, they give you alot of control. You can bench from within the overclocking menu too. I think more people should use the inbult bencher.

While I think the NGO's kick butt I don't think there's much in it when it comes to Omega vs NGO.

For that reason I've stayed with the omega drivers on account of me not wanting to swap around driver sets.

Well as an experiment today I decided to try a couple different driver sets. I am running a 9800pro that clocks out at 410/378. All the test scores are from 3Dmark05. I had been running the catalyst 6.1's, that maxed out with a score of 2935. I tried the older set of NGO optimized drivers (ver 1.5.13) and with some tweeking was able to get up to a 3045. Switched over to the latest 6.3 catalyst drivers and couldn't do any better, they came in at 2965. Last set I tried and will have to give a longer term test of is the new NGO driver (ver 1.6.3) ran all the tests again and scored a 3210. Not a bad day to pick up almost 300 points on 3dmark with nothing but driver updates.

I might try these NGO driver's. Are they based on Cat's, and does anyone know which one's?

yeah, i have a radeon 9600 pro, and i'm using ati tool for the overclocking...lately, with oblivion it seems like my catalyst drivers have been acting up beccase my comp will crash, and then the error report mumbo jumbo comes up after logging back in and it says it's the catalyst drivers...so i'll give these a try.

Anyone have any issues with removing ATI catalyst software or tray tools? I recently had to swap my bros computer over from a ATI to Nvida card, took a long time to get it removed... even using ATI's removal tool...
