![]() ![]() | I bought this card from a friend for $40 last year. The stock is 390/735 BFG oc it to 430/735 not much. The highest i've gotten it to run is 450/780 stable but cant go higher. here is my 3dmark 01se score http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8869840 I have the stock cooler on it with a pci fan blowing at it should i buy a new heatsink and go higher? a Zalman http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835118117 If any one else has this card what is the highest core/mem you have gotten. One last thing a piece of the board is missing by the top corner by power connector and in the display setting there is no temp monitor and in counter strike source under video setting its only Direct x 8.1 hard ware it should be DX9. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Can you post some pics? Regarding the DX9 issue, I think that something like 3dMark05 will give you better info about the card. BTW I have the Zalman on my 6800 and it didn't improve my overclock but that's probably because my case temp are above average.

| Mastah Overclocker | The 5900 series is not that great of a design, it defaults back to 8.1 for some games because it sucks at running DX-9 I would save the money on the HSF, sell the card and get a 6600GT or 6800GS...it will be miles ahead in new games.

| The Mack Daddy | i have the same card and i got it if i remember a little higher by lapping the chip and throwing a iceburg cooler on it , did it with water also. I keep it at factory settings and now having any issues with it ran hl2, doom3 and now fear just fine. I like the card ran strong , rma came back in a week and as good as new. but somewhat slow on todays standards.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It is hard to see in the pictures but I think that the broken part is not a problem. Regarding overclocking, you can make sure that the GPU HSF is clean and maybe apply some Arctic Silver instead of the generic goop that is normally on the heatsink. You can also put a case fan right next to the card for additional cooling and see if that makes a difference. You should try positioning the fan in a number of places - cooling the backside and the front and see which yields better results.
