| Apex Advanced Techie | Which would you recommend for higher OCing? I'm waffling between the Connect3D (is it a good brand?) X800XL for $290 at Egg and the Sapphire X800Pro VIVO on sale for $280 at the Egg as well. Which would yield the best, most stable OC on H2O? |

I would get the XL it has more piplines, not every VIV0 can mod to to a full on XT http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2299

| Apex Advanced Techie | Heh. Well, in that case, would it be reasonable to expect a 33%+ OC (i.e. slightly above X850XTPE speeds ) out of it, given decent watercooling (assuming that it actually does have significant OC potential)? Or is that pushing the limits severely? |

| Mastah Overclocker | I can tell you this much, a pencil voltage mod and some tweeking took my X-800 Pro to 600 core and 600 memory. there are several guides in the archives below http://www.vr-zone.com/?c=6 You can also tweek timings, this will lower the ususally OC abit, but raise your score, they have guides on Bios Mods below http://www.mvktech.net/content/category/4/67/37/

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | OC's are not something to ever count on. If I said your gonna get a 30% OC I'd be a liar. There's just no telling. I will say this. After buying a good aftermarket heatsink or H2O block every Radeon card I've owned has surprised me. 9500 Pro, 9700 Pro, 2- 9800 Pro's, 9800XT and a X800XT. My 9800XT runs at 495/450 and the X800XT runs at 600/610 (both are H2O cooled with Lapped Tweakmonster ramsinks). |

| Apex Master Tech | Despite the slower clockrate the R430 has better yeilds then the R420 does, it should also run cooler, at high overclocks. With the right amount of cooling they can reach 480-500/1200 (depends on ram) especially nice whe you get one with 1.6ns ram(really 1.4 according to Samsungs Specs this must be dependent on yields as well). ~Bob
