You should be able to get it to run 550 core and 550 memory by setting the fan control to 100% using the ATI tool.

I have been able to benchies high as 600x600 that way

hey i might go for the x800 pro, sounds nice.. only thing is.. can it compete with a Nvidia 6800gt? the X800 pro has 12 pipelines unlike the beastly 16, bearing that in mind. Would it need overclocking??

My x800 pro is at stock however my case cooling is pretty good (I have two case fans blowing directly over agp and pci slots) so I might use ATI tool to compare my temps against what you guys have, and then decide if I want to push it.

So could you guys post your temps , be interesting to see how my stock temps compare to your oc's.

Personally, I'd recommend jumping on either the X800XL or X800Pro right now for a PCI-E video card (both are $275 with shipping at Newegg). The X800Pro is, as solid says, an OC beast, and the X800XL, although clocked lower on the core, should run cooler and potentially faster due to the 16 default pipelines opened up and the new 110nm core (R430). Personally, I'm going for a DFI NF4 Ultra-D and one of the Pro's as soon as i can scrounge up the money. 8-)

Thanks for that tip! I had no clue ATITool could do that.

But yeah, my X800 Pro is FLYING now that I overclocked it. Don't just drag the sliders up all the way up, though. Use the "Find Max ClocK" and "Mem" buttons.

The X800 series is better at most things when compared to the 6800 series...except maybe Doom 3. It would never hurt to over-clock it, though.

Yeah, ATITool is pretty finicky when it comes to artifact detection. As long as the games look fine, I would just ignore it's warnings.
