Default ATI Radeon 9800 Pro vs. Geforce 6600 GT?

I've been looking to upgrade from a Geforce 4 Ti4200 and I've narrowed down the choices to these 2 cards. I'm wondering from an experienced perspective (not blindly opinionated) which of these is quote "better." Meaning, which will produce the over all better graphics performance, and what do each have to offer to counter each other. All help is appreciated.

The above is a review all about the 6600 GT AGP version and in the comparisons they list numbers for a 9800 pro as well - seems like the 6600 GT is a pretty good buy over the 9800 pro.

If you can find a 9800Pro for $100.00, you've got a better deal. But IMO, a 6600GT AGP is still worth it, even if you can find a rediculously-cheap ATi offering.

Default Out with the old

As great as a 9800 Pro is, you just can't beat the next gen tech. Go with the 6600 GT, it's a great card.

check out Gigabyte and XFX...not sure if Albatron makes one, but i'm a big fan of there cards. XFX seems to be prettier, but the Gigabyte looks like a much nicer cooler. I'd always recomend replacing the stock coolant paste though as soon as you get it. Those thermal pads can be kinda shoddy.

Awesome. I've been wanting to upgrade for the longest tme but never got around to it because of other things until I built my own rig (very recently). It was my first time building my own rig and wasn't difficult but at the time I only wanted to get the thing up and running. So now that its up'n'running its time to kick it into high gear and give this puppy some juice. Hopefully I'll be posting some pictures in the gallery soon, and making myself a signature. BTW, just another quick question. I need an account to upload my own avatar don't I? Haha. Thanks again.
