| I read in an article that you could oc a chaintech 6600GT to 575/1120 and it would be fine. In the article on this forum it says you shouldnt oc more than 25 mhz which the 6600GT is 500/1000 stock. I tested it with coolbits and i got about 570/1070 and it tested fine for operating with the coolbits test thing. Im using the stock cooling etc on it. How hot can the vid cards get? mines at around 44 with 518/1040 done by the "optimal perfomance". | ||

| 6600GTs are known to be good overclockers deffinantly, but as with all overl****ing, your going to have to know your card's limits, and treat it with respect. DRR3 memory can overclock a staggering ammount and if given water cooling, can certainly reach 1.2GHz, if not more. Temperatures on GPUs has always been high when playing gmaes or benchmarking. Because windows uses very little graphics power, he videocard usualy remains cool...hence the relitively small scale HSF options that a lot of video cards have. Your temps seem fine for stock, you shouldnt be worried. The X850 form ATI is the latest hot cooker video card. From the Geforce 5800Ultra before it, this card on soem reviews can reach 90C in benchmarking. ![]() | ||

| Ok well i know that its recommended to keep your system under 50c so i wasnt sure if that went with vid cards as well since this is my 1st time OCing a vid card. When it tests the settings work, does that mean they are temperature compatable? I am using the fan that is on the card by stock. I have 3 case fans however if that makes any difference. As i mentioned before it is a Chaintech as well. How much preformace would i see from 500/1000 to lets say 575/1080? What is it recommended to keep your vid card temps under? I really dont want to damage anything. Is overclocking it to 570/1080 worth it? Thanks guys | ||

Doesnt a 6600GT score about half that...considering it and the 9800Pro/XT are very close and thats about where they are 18,000-21,000. Im sure your Celeron and 6600GT would have a hard time getting 17,000.EDIT: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.c...d=1716&page=11 Yep I was right. And you going to sit here and tell us your doing it with a 6600GT with a craparon??? Why do people lie about dumb crap? I just dont understand! But anyways back on topic! My friend just bought a 6600GT OC he is hitting about 590/1150 somewere along in that ball park from the last time i looked! They are great cards and beat out the 9800Pro for less money! | Oh, BS! Maybe you scored half of that, but judging from that little fib, Id say you hit somewhere around 12,000. Even in sli mode you probably wouldnt hit 30,000. Geez, can you say " "
