Well, if you're going to clock that E8400 past 4ghz, you're definitely going to need an aftermarket heatsink. I've heard that under decent cooling at around 4.2ghz/1.4vCore the 8400 does about 65c.

The bigger the heatsink, the better it cools...generally...but that means they are often more difficult to fit. The best three heatsinks out there are probably the ThermalRight 120 Extreme, the Tuniq Tower and the ZeroTherm Nirvana.

Another advantage of buying a decent cooler is that they are usually quieter than the stock offering, and some come with fan control.

As it is, the DS4 has a pretty tidy layout. Although the cooling on the DQ6 is different, I think that should be fine as well.

Haha, no problem Dizzy. Hardware is my thing when it comes to PCs, so anything you wanna know, give me a shout. Looks like you're gonna have a really decent PC soon

I have a P5K-E, but alas its still in the box because I don't have the rest of my hardware yet. Once I get everything going I'll tell you how my P35 performs with the E8400. Perhaps you could save some money, unless you want full crossfire support.

It should perform pretty well. That P5K-E is quite a good board - not top of the range, but with enough options to sling most CPUs into the stratosphere.

Thanks hoss - tell me, what do you think of those two boards, and with the Gigabyte (should I go with that, and I probably will, I'm not going to need some kind of water cooling, am I? It's already got a goddamned RADIATOR on it!!!

I don't know if you're still interested in hearing this but the E8400 is sweet.. I ran SuperPI at a LAN party and I got 15 seconds on stock clock speeds. Its very worth it.

HeHeHe. I guess I wasn't specific enough. I was actually referring the mobo, the E6750 was just what I put in it :-)
As for the 2 mobo's your looking at, I would probably pick the Asus just so I could use a Thermalright Ultra120 Extreme Heatsink. According to the Thermalright Compatibility chart the Asus Maximus Formula is a go while the DQ6 has to have the Crazy Cool removed :-(
