| Fuel Hoe-lio | I am the proud owner of a $25,000 student loan, and it doesn't matter what your credit is like, they only care if you have defaulted on a previous student loan, and in which cases your are phux0red. I got a student loan with no problem, and that is having a bankruptcy in my records from 6 years ago.

| Apex Advanced Techie | Guys i think hes a legitamite person that aint lieng. One question archie a co signer... sounds like a person who will have to pay off ur debt if u dont come thru to pay it.... just explain what the hell a cosigner is... i might convince me mom to do it i can use 500 bucks. BUT if cosigner has any obligations or payments or ne bul**** or if it can skrew up her near perfect credit then i aint throwing her into this. and damnit tek thats one fine cousin |

| Ghostrider | Boosh that's exactly what a co-signer does. They assume the debt if you don't pay. I wouldn't cosign a loan on a friend let alone a total stranger on the internet. You might as well hand him a tub of vaseline and bend over.

| Aqua Pimp | He may be totally honest. But asking a complete stranger to cosign a loan is not a good idea. The damage someone who defaults on a loan does to the cosigner's credit, would far outweigh a mere $500 dollars. I cosigned a car loan for my cousin. He didn't default or even pay late. Yet when I went to buy a house the fact that he had paid in cash instead of check made things very difficult for me. Only because my loan officer knew someone in the loan department at his bank was it resolved without me coming up with a couple grand more for a down payment. Just the fact that you've cosigned something can keep you from getting a car loan. The world runs on credit, a person would be a fool to sell their's so cheaply. It's not something I would ask of even the closest friend. And I would hesitate to ask it of a family member. If the whole thing comes off sounding like a con, it's because most people know the obligation of cosigning a loan.

| Apex Techie Lite | As far as the point about student loans being easy to get, the problem is that I can't get federal financial aid. I am having to go through and look for alternative lenders. Because of this, I am required to have a co-signer on the loan. Believe me, if I didn't have to, I wouldn't. Yes, if I do not pay it back, then the co-signer is obligated. I realize that this is a very big deal, and a huge favor to ask of anyone whether they be friend, family, etc. I really am trying to just trying to finish my degree and this was honestly a last-ditch effort to try and do so. That is the only reason I ever offered money to someone if they would do it. That is also the reason that I went into so much detail about the fact that the co-signer would be off of the loan in 12-16 months once I reconsolidated my student loans under one company and everything else about the whole deal. I realize that d-boards aren't the best place to go to get it done, but like I said, this was my last chance to do so. My family isn't rich by any means so I can't just borrow money from a family member. My mother and brother don't have very good credit so they were denied. My father won't help out me or my brother with anything at all. No aunts and uncles and such to speak of, so I am pretty much reduced to trying to find someone else. I honestly tried everyone that I know that could possibly do it, and they were all denied as a co-signer. I have pretty much realized that I am out of luck regardless of where I check, so that's it. I might be able to go back in 2-3 years and try and finish up if I can save up the bucks to do so. So, with that said, thanks for the advice that some of you guys gave me. I tried the things that I hadn't already tried, but I'm still where I was at in the beginning. Sorry if I sounded like an ass at times, but I've been way stressed out over all this crap. If anybody comes up with any other ideas before the 18th of August, let me know. Leon Cunningham leon@tautown.com |

| Apex Tech Maniac | archie069 / Leon: I am tending to belive that you might be legit.. if that is right and my faith in humanity still exists I think what you have decided to do is right. If you do not have the money to finish college you should work for the next 2 or 3 years and save up for school. I hope that you don't forget to go back to school and complete your degree because that would be the chicken's way out. Best of luck for the future.

![]() | I'm just wondering why the loan would be for 7G's.... I just graduated last Dec and while I didn't go to one of the expensive universities, I also didn't go to a small community college. Hell 7 grand would buy me almost 2 years of school. And actually if you lived close to me, I would probably do it... course I'd make you sign a huge legal document giving me rights to your life if you defaulted. But don't give up yet dude... do what you have to... apply for credit cards up the a$$ to scrub up enough money to keep going. Maybe you should post a paypal account address or something so little by little a few could donate to you...? Just a thought. And I have to jump on the cousin-appreciation train... TekXoid - what the hell is your cousin doing single... if I didn't have a GF... well damn.... just damn! |
