| Sir Knight of Spamalot | Use rubbing Alchohol to remove Artic silver. Ive used Acetone too (since it evaporates after a while and smells like Alcohol...)

![]() ![]() ![]() | I don't think there was such a thing as a PIII-300. (looks at decartridged PII-400 for insight) I think the PII/PIII cartridges had cache clocked at half the CPU speed, so 300MHz cache might mean a 600MHz processor. I'd put the parts together and at least POST it to see what you have. |

| Hell's Editor | yeah, if there was any way you could at least fire it up, get an actual cpu speed, i might be interested.. a pIII 300mhz just doesnt seem to make any sense, i wouldnt be surprised if either its a pII, or they just didnt know the spd when they tore it apart.

| Apex Tech Fanatic | yea, thants for theinput guys. I told you guys i dont really know much about it. Iwas told it was a PIII, but since i dont have the extra ram or HDDs to test it i'm jus kinda in the air. Just make me an offer...i know the one i have up there might be too steep for what i have so I'll cut a deal if you really want it. I just need to get it out of my house, trying to clean out some closets and such. EDIT: well after looking at it..its got two chips on there that say 300mhz...would that be that its 600 mhz then?

| whaaat? wheaties? | Google the code that is on the chip, or post it so I can. That will tell you what it is. Those chips on the side are the processor cache...They dont indicate the processor frequency. Also on the side of the cartridge, there should be a stepping like "600/512/1.75" or something similar. The "600" would indicate that it is a 600MHz processor. Post that please.

| Apex Tech Fanatic | thanks for the advice kemosabe, the codes on the chip areas follows: on the processor itself..its got the number- 7950A259 on the backside of the processor its got a chip with these on it: 582459AD L950EA01 SL3F5 then on the chips beside it the numbers are M5M5V2236BGP 922BE0E -3H 300MHZ will get more info as time permits..going off to my second job... ...EDIT:. looked up the SL3F5 # on the back of the chip...i most commenly get this when i google: "TagRAM chip mounted on the back of Pentium III Slot A processor (500 - 550 MHz)" I also went to Intel and checked the spec finder thing it has and intered the S.. # and it keeps giving me errors when i try.

| whaaat? wheaties? | Did you check here? ![]() Thats where the stepping code should be. I Know thats a P2 in the picture, but P3's have it in the same spot.
